Oh I’m going early I know. Being top of the league means we now have something to lose. It’s our hopes and dreams of promotion that are on fire. It’s an emotional reaction to losing two of our best players. I’ve never subscribed to the ‘never too high, never too low’ mantra. Interesting to see Joe Low’s reaction to Caleb Taylor’s recall. Perhaps there are a few more feeling it, even if they’re not saying it like me. I think a win tomorrow would bring a lot of comfort to everyone at the club.
Joe and Caleb obviously got on pretty well, which helped on the pitch, in Calebs leaving interview he mentioned how they had both socialised together with their girlfriends as well
Players are used to comings and goings within their squad, they are professionals and won’t let the departure of a popular teammate affect now they perform in games.
Dunno what all the panic is about personally. We ran our closest competitors Wrexham and Birmingham very close in the opening two games without Morley, Humphries, Fred and Taylor. And that was when depth was insufficient to the point where Bartolo came off the bench and we had Harvie at right back and stuff.
Our squad depth is now excellent. Birmingham City only have about three fit wingers left available. Their results are suffering as a consequence.
I’d argue we outplayed Wrexham too. We were very unfortunate to lose that game. A draw was arguably fair.
Oh and we’ll obviously replace Taylor and Morley adequately. One or both may even return to AP later in the window.
Alfie May was reportedly on that as a 31 year old journeyman recruit...
@frequentstander not sure about Birmingham, I thought they looked better, but I agree about Wrexham. I'm pretty optimistic, but then I always am. Our early season consistency has been a delight.
PL clubs coming down are stronger than ever. Southampton basically came 4th in a 3 team league, so his real achievement was managing to win the playoffs - a good one, sure...but winning a three-game knockout tournament does not make you a good manager.
Easily said, many balls it up, he was a good player for us, speaks well and has done ok in management if not clearly the next big thing, I don't think it'll be long until he gets back in and slowly improves someone else. Southampton fans sound a bit ungrateful tbh and should be careful what they wish for.
Southampton are bottom of the PL and more or less on course to be the worst ever PL side. I don't think there is any way but up, so "careful what they wish for" may not apply here!
Ten points from safety is big but if they don't think the new man can save them maybe he's not much better than Russ or neither of them had a realistic chance with the backing they received. If he lost the play off final and was in the top two now they'd be singing his name and he'd be linked elsewhere.
If you don't think they could / can be worse off than they are check in on Sheffield Wed or Swindon.

As usual Wendoverman puts things perfectly into perspective.
Cheer up old chap. Every cloud etc…
Absolutely. It’s a great reminder of the relationships players build with each other, on and off the pitch.
I think some might be underestimating the effect their departures will be having on the players.
I think this weekend those clouds are bringing us snow.
" I’ve never subscribed to the ‘never too high, never too low’ mantra."
no shit!!!!!!
I think you will find a number of our players are on more than £16k per month

Risk there of Joe going with Caleb if the offer comes in?
Blackpool are going to be really tough. Last six away games - 3 win, one draw and two late defeats
0-0 at Birmingham
2-1 at Wrexham - with that dodgy late penalty that hit the players back for Wrexham
0-3 at Reading
1-2 at Shrewsbury
1-2 at Bristol Rovers
2-1 at Bolton - Bolton scored a 94th minute winner
Cor blimey...that does surprise me. That's what you get for posting when you are not in the know. 😊

I think i saw it reported that the club's total wage bill is currently around £400k per month
No idea if any players we own are.
But Birmingham probably have at least one player on 16k a week!
Did you get your missus to pose for that shot?

This is my girlfriend’s usual pose!
Hay fever?!
That's what I said!
Did laugh out loud.

Southampton fans loathe him with a passion.
Interestingly, some West Brom fans were speculating that Caleb might be there to cover gaps which may get covered in January and then come back to us.
🤞

That means they are in the PL.

Martin is a good manager who was just too stubborn. If he learns from that mistake, he'll find success elsewhere.
