Agree. The utter love for Grimmer on these boards is delusional. Just watch the match. You can see he’s probably the weakest link we have right now. Unfortunately Gmac has been out of sorts for a few games and shouldn’t be starting either.
We’ve had a competent half but competent doesn’t get automatic promotion. I’ll take the downvotes. Bakinson on a yellow is a worry. Hes been my motm so far.
No one is flapping. We’ve had a good half, but haven’t distinctly threatened them. They’ve had the best chance of the game. We have excellent options off the bench and we should be using them. Especially the wingers. This game is here for the taking.
I’m imagining @frequentstander ’s ‘neutrals’ as some relatives trapped at a post Christmas gathering while the analyst loudly highlights the failings of our right back.
They nod along while subtly checking their watches.
No i said there's some gentle flapping going on now, but imagine an actual defeat with mistakes, THEN there would be scenes of a disturbing nature on here.
Which 'utter love' is that? The site's recent trend is towards Pattenden being the second coming, which isn't correct either. Both are solid league one full backs.
Agree that Bakinson is playing the best so far, against his former club. Silly yellow to give away though - can see him being hooked for Leahy sooner rather than later. Taylor running him a close second though, especially after that remarkable run into their half. Udoh isn't getting much service which is a shame as he's a great striker. Would like to see Fred on for Garath pretty quickly.
Exactly, not every player will be a 10 in every half of football but we are still in this and haven't let a goal in. Wonder what certain posters made of the Stevenage defender last week.
Nothing wrong with a bit of patience rather than 5 subs at half time in every nervy game, or love and support for a long serving player and club captain. He's not been at his best and will come under pressure from Jasper or any new signing but neither are available today.
Thought GMac was fine tbh in the context of service and opportunities.
He's an excellent 1v1 defender out of possession, and he's a solid ball carrier higher up the pitch, but you don't want to start your build phase with him (not that you should play out through a full-back anyway).
Agree with that. Someone the other day said Pattenden had "made the position his own". Which doesn't seem to be the case in the slightest, seems a job share when both are fit.

We really missed Kone’s guile and creativity that half.
Udoh and Luballa work hard and are great players but they don’t scare defenders like Rich does.
I don't always get why people insist on picking out individuals for criticism when it's a tight fairly ordinary game.
We're 2nd and have a great away record, but it doesn't mean we're going to roll everyone over.
Fair enough. You’re right about the state of the pitch on that side.
I take back what I said about Grimmish and Gmac.

Need to make changes in this one. Plenty of options though!
The pitch is absolutely terrible.

Not sure there's the "Love" you suggest, just not seeing him as being "bad" as such.
Expectations are great, but if an average game like this is getting people flapping, imagine a mistake riddled defeat. The site will burn down.
Our finishers will see us over the line here. Just need that extra bit of... What's the technical term? Oomph.
That's where the power of the squad kicks in later on.

Not sure where you go from criticism for a player who is not good enough to having a site meltdown. Think you see too much on things.

Poor pitch but Charlton running hard to close us down - can they keep that up for 90 +mins?

The fact that Grimmer isn't very adept at playing out can't have come as that much of a revelation, can it?

100%. Don’t say it out loud though.

@ShrubberyBlue it isn’t ’utter love’ though, is it? Just a few people wondering why we would want to get stuck into the club captain mid game.
Not sure where you’ve been. Criticize Grimmer and you get attacked. E.g. Malone is a prime example.
