  • I bet we could get Jakki Degg for 50p

  • Is this the same Ian Evatt who headbutted Josh Feeney a couple of months ago? He's off his chump. He can't continue to strengthen a promotion rival and will happily let Aaron Morley sit on the bench for the rest of the season.

Mikhail Lomtadze bought WWFC to create and build an academy, not to fund a Championship promotion bid. I don't see him forking out and you know Evatt will be asking crazy money.

  • After the earlier post, I am increasingly confident that we can do a deal for Morley. £100k plus add-ons if we get promoted and maybe a sell-on fee, thanks Evatt.

  • There's simply no logic to football supporters. A Bolton Wanderers supporter suggests an appropriate transfer fee for Aaron Morley would be £1.5million. A Wycombe Wanderers supporter suggests it would be £100,000. It's just bonkers!

  • 1.5m for a player their manager doesn't rate enough to get in their team.

Presumably they rate the others north of 2m?

  • They’ll squeeze every penny out of us. The only question is how highly we value him, and what it will cost not to sign him.

  • I read Evatt has shares in Bolton, going to be a strange sacking If it ever does happen.

  • This is the closest we'll get to an accurate estimate (it's in Euros as the parent company is Dutch, converts to approx. £750k to £915k) - slightly better than Transfermarkt imo - but the science of transfer fees is far from exact as we know! https://www.footballtransfers.com/en/players/aaron-morley

  • I am a huge fan of Morley but to suggest that our season will fall apart if he goes back to Bolton is nonsense. Josh Scowen is the best player in our squad in my opinion and we have done pretty well during his recent absence. No player is irreplaceable.

We would need to agree on what represents our season falling apart of course (I'd suggest finishing outside the play-offs) but my claim is on Gasroom record and I'll repeat it: our season will fall apart when Aaron Morley is recalled. We'll find out whether it's nonsense soon enough.

  • They arent premier league any more, a couple of hundred grand for a player who wants out isn't to be sniffed at. I'd imagine we have a plan B though. We never thought we'd get him and there must be other players chomping at the bit to get away from clubs, being up the top helps with that.

  • I'm slightly surprised that so many people here are downplaying the importance of Morley to us this season. He's been utterly superb and won't be easy to replace at all if we can't do a deal. He's one of the greatest passers of the ball we've ever had and has been integral to the attacking fluency of the last few months. That said, maybe the data says differently and the club aren't too worried. I'd be very concerned about our chances of finishing top 2 without him though.

It is possible to acknowledge a player's importantance and state that they're replaceable. Most players are, even more so with the advancements in data-led recruitment. I want to get Morley permanently, but we're not going to descend into oblivion without him.

Does anyone honestly think we'll wave him off back to Bolton and not bring in a replacement?

  • As I’ve reiterated a few times this season, Morley is our most important player. Not our best, although he’s not far off the best either. He’s so vital to our playing style. Bakinson’s attributes are not comparable. Butcher’s are not comparable. Nobody in the squad has comparable attributes. I suspect we either pay up or we bring in Arthur Read from Col U or we bring back Lewis Wing or we bring in a loanee. Perhaps a combination of all these options.

  • They have Kone at 300K when it should say PRICELESS

  • We’ve clearly spent thousands to recruit all the heads of in the Academy. I can’t image they come cheap to make them leave some high profile clubs. It will be interesting to see if we’re prepared to spend some serious money on an excellent player who’s only 24, with years in front of them. At least now, we know what the score is.

  • My only slight worry with all this is if Bolton recall Morley on January 1, we won’t be able to sign him until January 2 meaning he is likely to miss the Exeter game.

  • How come? The window opens on Jan 1. Or is it a registration issue?

  • You can't be totally held to ransom, and clubs in our division paying £15m for players is ludicrous regardless of what they do. Of course Bolton want as much as they can get and we'll want to pay less, you don't just say yes and pay whatever they ask or ML will soon lose interest after being bled dry by every agent and hanger on, I suspect we'll settle but we won't ever likely find out where they settle if they do.

  • I can’t imagine Bolton can hold out for much extra cash from us. No team is paying money for Morley when he isn’t available to play for them for eight months. It’s us or no one and he rots under a manager he hates. We are in an excellent position. Credit to all involved.

  • Players can be recalled on January 1. They can technically be signed on January 1 too. But as January 1 is a Bank Holiday, registrations to play will not happen.

  • Quite. If for instance we offer £500k for Morley and they say no, then surely there are other good players out there we could buy for that sort of money.

  • It's been seven hours and 15 days

    Since Bolton took you away

I go out every night and sleep all day

Since they took your central midfield capabilities away

Since you been gone, I can do whatever I want

I can sign whomever I choose

I can play Sir Josh at the 4 and Bakinson at the 8

    But nothing

I said nothing can improve these blues

    'Cause nothing compares

    Nothing compares to you, Aaron

  • The teeth brothers are Wycombe fans, maybe they can help us out...

I worry for @glasshalfempty if Morley goes down injured.

But , having said that he is integral to how we currently play and as such is pretty much irreplaceable, so I hope we can strike a deal if the price is right (in my view circa £300k max).

Whilst I do think we will suffer in the short term if he does go, in the medium term it may actually help us.*

There is an element of teams having worked out how to stifle us a little recently and having to rethink our Plan A may not be such a bad thing.

We currently have an exceptional centre-back pairing and even without Morley (with Scowen back) two superb midfielders at this level. Add to that a mobile and varied attack and, by most people’s reckoning, an in-demand, imaginative and astute young manager so we could evolve into an even more exciting and unpredictable team.

    Heady days….

Genuine question. (Not sure I’ve ever asked a fake question.)

It has come to may attention, young man, that you choose to eschew the edit feature on this excellent four rum and prefer to draw attention to your errors by leaving them in plaice and adding an editional post to correct them.

    Wye ?

  • The edit feature times out after an hour - I narrowly missed that one!
