Morley and a returning Scowen are almost certainly the difference between challenging for automatic promotion and challenging for the play offs. I'm confident that we have enough in the bank for the play offs, but do think we'd drop out of the top 2 race without Morley.
Is it really? Have you not watched us play since August? Have you not seen with your own eyes the absolutely integral role Aaron Morley plays in this team? The way he protects Caleb Taylor and Joe Low in our back four? How he controls the ball, the temp of our game, our passing, allows Josh Scowen to play further forward and knit together our attacking play? How he allows our front free to press the back four of opponents, denying them the opportunity to play out? It's absolutely crazy to deny the influence he has had on this team, even if trying to play devil's advocate. And people say I'm the one on a wind-up.
No-one is denying it, but instead of just writing "we're doomed, dooomed I tells ye", and already mapping out a route to how we'll be playing on the Rye in 5 years, we'd move on and find another way.
Just like when Wycombe sold Scott earlier in the season than this 30 years ago, and still were promoted all those years ago.
Good managers find a way, and the way we're managed now they'd have definitely had a "what if" strategy outlined.
Still, let's save the crying for IF he does leave.
There would surely have to be something radically wrong with our setup and recruitment system if the departure of one player, however accomplished at League One level, led to our season completely falling apart.
Having said that, I am as anxious as the next man (or woman) for Aaron Morley to at least see out his season long loan.
We're clearly polar opposites. I am obviously having an emotional reaction to losing our best player, whereas your reaction is seemingly one of indifference, Again, it feels like you are on a wind-up saying IF he does leave, did you not read Ian Evatt's quotes from his press conference this evening? Aaron Morley is being recalled. Are you seriously suggesting there is already a deal in place and he will be announced as our permanent player before we play Exeter City on New Year's Day? If so, I will have your children and we can call then Cinderella and Rapunzel.

How do you replace a player as integral as Aaron Morley, on our budget, in the January transfer window?
...and look what happened there!
Probably with another loan. I trust our process.
But I think we'll sign him. He's ours if we want him is how I see it.
If Birmingham lose tonight they'll probably offer double whatever we are willing to pay.
Or we just play the guy who was Plan A, Bakinson. Morely didn't arrive until near the end of August did he?
It feels like Scowen is a huge miss at the moment, especially in home games, so at least he should be back soon.
I think you are being incredibly naive. We can revisit this on February 4th and then again when we drop out of the top six.
They probably don’t even know him.
Glasstotallyfull
Of bile and piss and shit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We're not going to drop out of the top 6 😅
How many league matches have we lost when Aaron Morley has started? And the same question for Tyreeq Bakinson?
Bloody hell @glasshalfempty have you been on the sauce or are you just trying to stir everyone up?
I think I'm bringing up bodily fluids I never knew even existed.
How many games has Morley played against Birmingham or Wrexham when we didn't have the Taylor-Low combo together is about as valid a question.
I preferred the Che stuff to be honest.
The 'with/without player x' metric is overstated, got to look at the bigger picture
There are plenty more fish in the sea, we just need to catch them.

Except they then can't play him this season due to the only play for 2 clubs in a season rule.
Yeah, but he'd be nearer to Cadbury World

Spite transfers have come to League One
Who's denying his influence?
Overated.

He 100% won't be seeing out his season long loan. That's the one thing we've learned so far!
I think we probably now know that unless we buy him he is heading back to Bolton.
Agreed.
We've a lot of players who if we were out them for a while/permanently would be a huge blow.
Scowen - as we're seeing.
Harvie, Low, Kone, Humphreys, Taylor.
