What's his valuation do we think? 24 year old high performing midfielder with a fairly lengthy contract. I'd be surprised if they'd accept anything below 500-600k.
Agreed. So what do we all think would be a fair price for a young talented midfielder who cost Bolton £150K from Rochdale (I think)? A player Bolton decided was surplus to requirements.
Whether they've decided he's surplus to requirements is unfortunately fairly irrelevant. What is relevant is his form (superb) and his contract (till 2027).
I'd take that as a positive. By effectively saying Morley is for sale, they're also sending a rather negative message to the player. Assuming Morley wants to stay, I'd think there's room for negotiation. They'll want a good fee, but at the same time they won't want an unhappy player in the squad.
I think the Bolton fan, @FarmerCee suggested about 300k?
They key here seems to be they want to sell and don't really want to play him. It's not like he's a critical part of their lineup, then the fee would surely be higher?
I also think Birmingham and, to a lesser extent, Wrexham have skewed the market at this level. Clubs will think they can hold out for more than they might have done before.
Well, that's just fucking brilliant isn't it? Not that I expected anything different, especially with someone as arrogant as Ian Evatt pulling the strings.
Imagine going 18 league games unbeaten and it ending at fucking Stevenage.
Depends on the valuation doesn't it? I don't see us paying any fee over £300,000. To be honest, I don't see this deal being done at all, and then our season completely falls apart.
I am not blaming Evatt or Bolton. What are they going to say "Here, have our loan player to get you promoted instead of us"? I don't like Evatt, but we would expect to use our leverage if the situation was reversed.
No player is irreplaceable, no matter how integral, and I back us more than ever to replace more than adequately - if we need to replace him at all. But really, if we're not willing to shell out for a player on whom we've got a huge, tangible sample size on which to base our decision on, when are we ever going to?
It definitely can't be too much over that for sure. Though I think some fans have got carried away with the wealth of the owner and will expect a mad fee.
We won't find any fee out anyway it'd be the classic "undisclosed". Although when we got to the championship it was notable how even with Gaz's secrecy stuff would leak out early.
Comments
Given his age and ceiling, I expect it would be 500k at the very least.
Lommy is now worth 5.8 Billion, so I assume they've added an extra zero to whatever they think the player is worth.

I think it’s 58 - your age plus mine divided by two.
I keep harking on about that mad run of 4 home games in about 8 days from Jan 1 on.
Just that week or so alone is a significant part of the season.
We can't just whop in with a huge bid though. And he surely can't just sit at Bolton absolutely ludicrously ignored by that oaf Evatt.
Plus he can't play for any other club for 6months.
So there's a good chance something can happen.
750k to 1m I'd imagine. He really is that good.

Will be an interesting couple of weeks!

Merry fucking Christmas.
Surely them being open to a sale is much better than Evatt saying he's coming back to be re-introduced into their squad?
Morley will play the next two games surely? No reason this has to cause a poor performance at Stevenage.
The general misery of having to set foot in Stevenage will see to that

It can't get much worse than the Stryjek red card moment there last year...

We will sign him.
Being an Orthodox country, Kazakhstan celebrates Christmas on January 7th.
Perfect day for Santa Lommy to give us a gift.

Beat me to it
I hope Ian Evatt gets dysentery for Christmas.

Our Boxing Day record is bollocks (sans dogs).
I don't think anyone blames Evatt or Bolton for looking after their "asset". It doesn't change the fact that he's an unbearable oaf.
You're going to be in for some real disappointment (as are we all).
I will be if we don't sign Morley or replace him. That would be absurd and won't happen. We'll finish January with a stronger squad than we start it.
Bloody hell, cheer up. Your mood swings could rock the Titanic.
