Saturday's local football

If you want a far cheaper option than Christmas shopping on Saturday then there's plenty of attractive local football taking place. With Wycombe playing Bolton on Friday night it's a great opportunity to have a look at what's going on in the local football scene.

The most attractive games seem to be Chesham United v Dorking Wanderers in the National League South or slightly further afield Wealdstone v Dagenham & Redbridge in the National League. Chalfont St Peter take on Holmer Green in a local derby. Here's a selection of what's on (all 3pm k.o.):

Comments

  • Kidlington v Berkhampstead in the Southern League Division 1 Central for me.

  • Berkhamsted! I live there!

  • Come over! Would be a pleasure to buy you a beer in the club house. Guaranteed Berkhampsted win; Kidlington are exceptionally poor this season.

  • Three different spellings of the same place in three posts - don't tell micra!

  • Everyone just says Berko!

  • Probably Chesham followed by a curry for me!

  • Chesham United stumbled to a comprehensive defeat today against full-time Dorking Wanderers, who ran out 5-0 winners at the Meadow.

Trailing 2-0 at half-time Chesham conceded a third goal just after the break which effectively sealed the result. The home side had a player sent off for a reckless challenge, leaving Dorking in total control & they added 2 further goals before the end.

The match wasn't helped by a heavy squally shower that made the first 15 minutes very difficult for both sides. However, despite the counter-attraction of Christmas shopping a very good crowd of 955 turned out, including around 200 visiting supporters from Surrey. Not a game to live long in the memory - unless you are a Dorking Wanderers supporter!

  • Hope the curry was more enjoyable!

  • 6th red card of the season for Chesham according to transfermarkt.

  • Young played & nearly scored from an audacious shot from about 35/40!yards out. Difficult to give a proper analysis as Dorking were so dominant in this game. They played Chesham off the park.
