Richard Keys has warned Kelly Cates it will be the end of her career if she goes to MOTD as the programme is dull and doomed. I can think of worse ways to end your UK TV career...
Idk if I'm representative of the younger generation as a whole, but I still watch MOTD most weeks (usually on catch-up, admittedly). And that's after I've watched all the goals on YT - clearly I can't get enough!
Yes, John Sitton. Sacked defender Terry Howard at half-time of a league game against Blackpool. Then made 59 appearances for Wycombe. Good defender as I recall, and scored in a very enjoyable 4-1 win at Oxford.
Former Sunderland Academy Player Charged with Murder Following Death of Non-League Footballer
James Hitchcock, a non-league footballer and goalkeeper for Barton Town FC, has tragically died after an alleged assault during a night out in York last weekend. A man from the North East has been charged with his murder.
Hitchcock, a married father of one, sustained serious injuries during an incident at York railway station on Sunday night. Despite receiving medical care, he passed away in hospital on Wednesday.
British Transport Police have confirmed the arrest and charging of 22-year-old Mckenzie Dicicco from Stockton-on-Tees with murder and affray. Dicicco, a former Sunderland under-18s academy player and non-league footballer, is set to appear at York Magistrates’ Court.
Authorities reported that officers were called to York railway station around 8:45 PM GMT on Sunday after Hitchcock, in his 30s, suffered severe head injuries.
Barton Town FC released an official statement mourning the loss of their goalkeeper:
“Barton Town FC are devastated to announce that following a serious head injury, our First Team goalkeeper James Hitchcock has passed away peacefully in hospital.”
The club expressed their condolences, saying:
“Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to his wife, April, their young son, Freddie, his parents, family, and friends.

As good a choice as any. I watch MOTD but whizz through the pundits.
Likewise. 🤷♂️
Matt Taylor sacked by Bristol Rovers.
Can we start a thread of teams Bloomfield isn't going to join? It will be a lot shorter.

Do they still have the classic music for MOTD? I have not seen it in about 25 years, but that music used to be so exciting as a kid!
60th anniversary year @Shev so they presently have it blasting out over archive footage!
Didn't they 'modernise' the intro music?

Cheers! That makes me very nostalgic!
I hope you've brought your dinner
I bet Chelsea are really glad they gave Mudryk an 8-year contract https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/mykhailo-mudryk-catastrophic-drug-suspension-beginning-end-chelsea-career/blt4e1f1f2703192779
Mind you, this could be their best way out of that contract.
Would Chelsea have insurance that could help them reclaim his 90m fee though?
While it would get them out of 200k a year for 8 more years, they'd have to write off that 90m though.
I seem to remember the whole Mutu thing years back being a bit of a palaver
I remember him getting a shorter ban for actual drug taking than Ferdinand for missing a test. That was ridiculous stuff.
His name is really going to get Ryk'd through the Mud now.
Some thoroughly crap goalkeeping on both sides in the Spurs - Man Utd game
If Bishop was behind the keepers they have at Man Utd, there's no way he's going to displace Rav.
Good to see Son channelling his inner JJ there
Whoever's currently in charge of ManU OUT
Manchester United's goalkeeper in the League Cup tonight is honestly the most ridiculous thing I have seen on a football pitch.
And I've seen many things on a football pitch.
RIP James Hitchcock
