I thought Barkinson & Humphreys had great games in midfield, Morley a little less so, of the back 5 only Grimmer really stepped up & to be honest other than the goal our front 3 were pretty anonymous other than Fred trying to emulate some of their diving.
I can’t believe Morley isn’t getting more votes. Every positive move we made today came through him.
That said, Batkinson was excellent in spells and that was easily his best game for us. I’ve said since we lost Scowen that he’s the most likely back-up we’ve got.
Overall a really frustrating game littered with consistent individual errors, particularly in defence.
I thought Bakinson was unfortunate to get a yellow card. That was his best performance for Wycombe. Torn between him and Grimmer but the latter barely put a foot (or his head) wrong. So that’s my vote.
Having Grimmer back in the team allows Bloomfield to drop Leahy (he seems to want one of those two or Scowen on the pitch for captaincy duties). Some clever balls and interplay with Fred means Jack gets my vote but I was also impressed by Bakinson.
I thought the front 3 struggled to get any flow into their game. Fred was off the pace today, Udoh and Lubala worked hard and fair play to Bez for a good finish.
It was tough for all the defenders in that wind but couldn’t really see any excuse for Low’s era for the goal. Grimmer had a good second half.

Very much agree on Bakinson - Leahy has been a great servant and is there when needed, but I think Bakinson showed a much more assertive presence in midfield today, and we need that with Sir Josh of Scowenshire out for what sounds like at least another month.
It's hard to say - he said something like "not real soon" after mentioning those three, but then went right into talking about Kodua, so I could not tell if he was referring to the first three or to Gideon.
Yes, an element of obfuscation seemed to creep in at that point, whether deliberate or not. I was puzzled by his reference (two or three times) to players ‘imprinting’ themselves on the game. Imposing themselves would have made more sense to me but what do I know! Our beautiful language is always evolving, as several Gasroomers are forever reminding me.
There can be few local newspaper journalists (I hope) whose own ‘style’ is literally imprinted in their reports (based on a post match interview) in quite such a quirky way as the following:
On re-reading that I must apologise to James Richings. I reacted disproportionately to one or two typos. But I’d like to have seen a reference to Matt’s interesting use of ‘imprinting’ . Maybe James was worried about misprints.

Bakinson showed the player he could be but had moments where he lost the ball in the wrong place. There's a really good player in there but consistency was the main comment Wednesday fans made when we signed him and I see that.
I agree about Fred. I’m always reminded of Bayo’s comment that you have to get him angry to get the best out of him. He seemed to be smiling too much yesterday and, for me, that very unsubtle push on the back of a Reading defender in the opening minutes of the game when two yards behind him rather set the tone.
I now feel a bit like Craig Rebel Hoarywood. It’s a 7 for Fred.
I went for Taylor. Really tough day to be a defender in that wind, and he barely put a foot wrong with his positioning. A couple of moments when his distribution went awry, but I think that was true of literally everyone yesterday.
If he’s “back on the grass” after just over three weeks out, it would seem strange that he would not be match fit to play for another three weeks plus.

Matt did say in his post match interview that Sads, Vokes and Josh were back on the grass.
Whatever that means in terms of duration of absence.

I thought Bakinson had a poor 1st half, but, 2nd half he was excellent
