Quick follow up. Installed BlueSky. Ticked my interests. NOT news, NOT politics. Food, sport, tech, comedy
First three messages in my timeline. All from political commentators saying bitchy things about people who are on Twitter using condescending language that is just exhausting these days .
I've always found if you look at the 'Following' feed on Twitter/X rather than 'For You' you can avoid most of the crap. My feed is mostly Wycombe, lower league/non league football, music and cute animal vids. No neo Nazis.
Twitter has a block button, an unfollow button, a turn off RTs button, all free to use. Given how easy it is to see only what you want, I do find these complaints slight disingenuous.
It has a block button that Musk has recently hobbled.
Whatever you do, Twitter always finds a way of shoving stuff you don’t want to see in your face. Usually by placing your tweet in the face of someone who’s completely against your POV in the hope they’ll react.
Come the end, if I posted anything about cycling I’d have spent the next hour blocking 80% of the responders.
Musk has created a safe space for free speech warriors (the sort that are furious at how Allison Pearson is being ‘hounded’). Fair play to all who continue to enjoy it.
In a moment of drunken madness I once tried to buy my way onto the team plane to Gateshead when we had played and won on a Saturday and the game was the next day in the north east. Sober me was thrilled to get a message to say I couldn’t
I've tried to fight the instinct of the anally retentive saddo on my shoulder but failed. We lost 2-0 to Altrincham at Adams Park on the Saturday before winning 1-0 at Gateshead on the Sunday.
It will live long in the memory as I had to walk the 11-mile, 4 hour+ journey from Adams Park back to Burnham. The things you do to watch the Chairboys and I can't even blame alcohol.
What route did you walk for that out of interest, if you remember!
As a lot of it is either slightly ropey country lanes or needing to cross some major junctions.
Either way an incredible walk.
Nothing to rival you but I did once bizarrely choose to walk 4miles to Adams Park in the pouring rain to watch us in the b&b without any thoughts of the return journey.
Even weirder I got talking to someone I believe was the town's major of the time who arranged me a lift with a Russian guy.
When he knocked into a signpost within metres of leaving Adams Park I was actually more relaxed than I should have been.
Oh wow, that's quite a story, especially for a Berks & Bucks Cup tie and in the rain too.
I walked back through town, the Rye, Wycombe Marsh, Loudwater, Wooburn Green, up Windsor Hill, past Wooburn Common, through Dropmore and down into Burnham. I was 17, my lift had fallen through and I was skint. I got home just in time for Match of the Day!
What makes it an even stupider story is for some reason I'd decided dying my hair a wild golden colour too was a wise move, just to picture an even more farcical scenario.
That's quite the walk. Have struggled up Windsor Hill many a time, and taken wrong turns in some of those woods nearby too.
That makes it worse. Why I decided on the back of a defeat I decided to contact the club and ask if I can fly with the players god only knows. I do recall MoN saying something along the lines of the 11 most sober players will be selected.

Oh well. Maybe not the promised land
Has anyone received their voucher code yet? Just want to check, as I have nothing for either myself or my son...
Code now received.

Code received 12:01 ticket confirmed by 12:05, very easy process. Well done to all involved.
Easy peasy. Hope the Twitter-folk have cooled down.

Well done to Ryan for prompt response of emails, sorting out issues within seconds.

I thought all cats were neo Nazis?
I'm thinking of chartering a plane from Booker to RAF Northolt for this one. Bacon butties, tea and coffee included.
I’m sorry if that’s been your experience, but it hasn’t been mine.
Now that would be a great way to travel to the game. 👍👍

I have three season tickets. Couldn't go to the York game as I was away working. Going to be likewise for this game, so anyone want mine? 🤷♂️

I got straight in the car after the Altrincham game and headed north
An unbelievable number of Wycombe fans had made the trip, not a lot of them sober
I made it up to Gateshead for that Sunday fixture, via a stop off in North Yorkshire.
Don't think many of the players were sober, let alone the fans! Still somehow sneaked a 1-0 win.

I've messaged you @EwanHoosaami

I actually can't make the game. Does anyone want my two codes?
Messaged you
That is some walk, especially after Wooburn Green when you have little or no paths, no street lighting and it must have been pitch black gone 8.30.
754 sold so far, general sale starting at 12.

Hello isn’t general sale for non ST holders tomorrow (Thursday) or is it today?
Aha you're right! Thursday it is.
Panic over here 🤣
Nervously hoping for a chance tomorrow!
