York looked decent for me but a couple of things stood out:
physically they looked small all over the park.
They liked a high defensive line - particularly in the first half - and the number of times we played a through ball to a deeper running midfielder could have had us have a 1on 1 several times on another day. It was like they thought we had no pace in the side.
For a back 5 (including the Gk) being completely different to the last game we played and having very limited time together I thought they did well - especially against a team that scored 28 league goals in 16 league games. I would have been more surprised had there been no defensive errors.
Second half, bar the last ten minutes, I felt we held them at arms length. A little disappointed we allowed them that ten mins at the end - but they are a confident side on a good run and it was the FA Cup, they had nothing to loose.
Very pleased to see Hanlan get ten mins at the end too. And looked like he still had a lot of his pace.
I thought that our goalkeeper had a very decent game. Good distribution and confident in coming off his line. Needs to be tested a bit more in terms of shot stopping ability though, to see his true potential. But bodes well. Nothing that he could have done about their goals.
1) Bishop was out warming up pre-match. If all three keepers are fit, who starts, who makes the squad and who misses out?
2) Probably not going to be a headache for Blooms as often as he would like but defensively, Taylor and Low rightfully have the shirts currently but with Taf returning, who is third choice now out of him and Dec?
I took the opportunity to stand behind the goal yesterday. Just one small point - do the pitchside adverts have to be quite so bright? As it was getting towards dusk it was quite hard to watch the game at the other end, especially with the adverts with a white background.
It's been noted on quite a few occasions that the LED board make it very hard to see the ball when their brightness is incorrectly calibrated for the prevailing light conditions. I'm sure this is something whoever controls this is aware of as I'm sure they were turned down as the game progressed.
I feel like I moan about the advertising boards on here constantly, watching from behind the goal is very hard work. Does anyone who in the club can I actually contact about it?
The advertising boards continue to be a problem for me as well. Some games they are at the right level but it does seem to depend on the ambient light levels, so for games going from daylight to dusk and dark, they need to be adjusted during the game.
Advertising boards are way too bright when watching from the family stand. Especially on the pure white and white and red ads…simply blinding and makes it hard to see the ball. Sorry wycombe it’s a real pain.
Totally agree about the advertising lighting, especially when all white. ( I thought it was only us that had that issue!) Really good game today but we were very lucky not to concede a penalty at the death after a blatant push in the box by McCarthy…ref must have been un sited, Linos don’t normally have a clue.
Maybe the ref was dazzled by the advertising board lights?
only semi joking. If the lights are that bad as said (not yet made it over this season) then as well as potentially affecting players it could make it harder for the officials.
I've written to the club about the advertising boards and Neil Peters got straight back to me and assured me they'd review it this week. I never take for granted how accesible club officials make themselves towards fans; we're so lucky with our office and back-room staff.
Watching the highlights back how the referee has not given the penalty is beyond me, didn’t give us much throughout by all accounts but that pen was nailed on.
So it would appear, as I said previously I’d rather we focussed on the league just couldn’t understand why it wasn’t given when it appeared so blatant.
If you want a further dose of frustration, watching the highlights back you could have a legitimate claim for our pen needing to be retaken due to encroachment. I gave you that one for free.
I must admit, every time the Origin advert appeared, I had to double take to see if they'd ramped the floodlights up. That and the Kellogs one. I mean, who the hell is thinking about cereal at football match?

Nearly. I had Wheeler in place of Scowen, but otherwise spot on.

Two thoughts from me:

I think that’s been made quite clear. Bishop starts. And Ravazolli is on the bench.

I was on a rare game in the terrace and it wasn't always the easiest to follow the ball in the opposition pen area.
I hadn't actually put it down to the ad boards this time but maybe it was
A midweeker a couple of seasons ago was scorching bright, especially when changing to white. Was amazed it didn't distract the players.

I would imagine either Neil Peters ([email protected]) or Matt Cecil ([email protected]) can help with this.

I sat lower down in the family stand yesterday. Both my daughter and I were struggling to see the ball when dusk fell.

it should be noted though that all bar the Burton game weren’t really ‘5 goal thrillers’.
In the other three the 2nd goal was basically just a late consolation which made for a nervy last few minutes.
Although I’m not remotely complaining

Have to admit, that the advertising boards have never bothered me. Maybe it's because my eyesight is fading faster than my heating allowance. 😊
That's a quality response.
You're in the main stand aren't you? So you can't see the havoc of the boards in that stand.
Maybe that's why they don't bother me? I am in the stand behind the dugouts, whatever that is called. 😎
Correction. One can see the perimeter flashing boards on the three other sides from Block C of the ‘main’ stand and it was a problem yesterday.

It definitely looked like a pen on the highlights.
Your team played well and you have a great shot of winning the National League.
Good luck for the rest of the season.
Sounds like you are after a 'Moral Draw' trophy?
I'd add my 'good luck' to York though - would be nice to see them back in the EFL.
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha *breathes hahahahahahahahahaha
Refs don't give massive clubs any decisions anymore I'm afraid.
So it would appear, as I said previously I’d rather we focussed on the league just couldn’t understand why it wasn’t given when it appeared so blatant.
tedious
