  • Just wait till someone asks whether the 'shoes off if you love Wycombe' was a hate crime or not

Second in the table means that the trees around Adams Park will start releasing 'winning team' pheromones into the atmosphere. These will drift over South Buckinghamshire and should see more people at home games in the future.

    FACT

  • I liked the Orients fans chanting ‘we’ve had a shot’ in the eighty second minute. Nice to hear our fans clap them for that. 👍

  • Very classy. We were fantastic.

It’s crazy that we could change all 11 next week and still put a mega strong side out, takes so much pressure off when we get a few injuries or fixtures stack up.

Hopefully we can give the cups a good go too.

  • I didn’t quite like or understand their “2-0 to the referee” (who I thought had a good game) chant and muttered to myself “no, it’s 2-0 to the better team … and about to be 3-0” shortly before Humphrey’s goal.

  • Wellens said something about our strikers know how to jump into and back into defenders. Like those are some unusual skills to have.

But generally it was good to hear a manager admit we were clearly the better team. Although at 3-0 you'd struggle to claim that was some sort of luck.

  • Any news yet regarding Grimmer injury and GMac going off at HT? I hope they were both precautionary withdrawals and they will both be back next week.

  • Udoh was by no means motm but he gets the threshold spot on every time. Always enough of a barge. Never too much of a barge.

  • A near perfect day. Emphatic win that could easily have been even more convincing, excellent football and bigger, noisier crowd than usual. Peter Kitchen, an Orient legend back in the 70s, was my guest today and he was very complimentary about our performance.

  • He doesn't know his stuff though...called us a 'yoyo club from the championship for a number of years'

  • Orient forum thoughts:

-There’s absolutely no way Wycombe will have an easier game this season

-The better team won on the day. A well deserved victory. I will also add that they were probably the best team we've played this season. They had shape, desire, intensity to their play, big strong players, and a willingness to fight for every single ball. Bloomfield certainly had it sorted and claimed what was an easy victory.

-In all the times we’ve played Wycombe over the years, this is the first time they’ve annihilated us.Even back in the mid 90s when Cyrille Regis ripped us apart..

  • I think Jack Grimmer will be following concussion protocols and will hopefully be available for the trip to Stockport County on Tuesday 5th November.

  • Crikey. That is very frank indeed. Perhaps a bit too candid.

Hopefully Orient stay up. Good club. Good ground.

Could be a great away trip for the penultimate game.

  • Agreed - I have always liked Orient as a club, and I would certainly preferred they got some momentum against everyone but us.

Mind you, I like Cambridge and Shrewsbury too, so expecting Bristol Rovers to occupy all four relegation spots at once might be a bit fanciful.

Sealing a playoff position at their place, or dare I dream of even better, would certainly banish the memory of that year our relegation was confirmed at their ground.

  • Taylor and Low look a really good combo, aerially strong, both comfortable on the ball and are very composed.

Made me wonder about Hartridge. After starting early season, has he fallen totally out of the 18man squad, or has he picked an injury up on the quiet?

I suppose next week's fixture will show us who is injured and who isn't, as whilst respecting the FA cup, we need to make sure some key players get a bit of a rest before 2 tough aways in 5 days afterwards.

  • As I understand it, concussion protocols allow return to play on day seven after an incident (as long as certain criteria is met) meaning depending on severity Grimmer should be fit for next Saturday.

I can’t see that Bloomfield has addressed McCleary directly but he suggested post-match that tactical switches were necessary. McCleary certainly didn’t look injured so assume he went off in a tactical move.

i expect both Grimmer and McCleary to be rested v York anyway.

  • Will hopefully have a very different feel to when we got relegated at their place all them years ago. I think it was Scott McGleish who mathematically relegated us but our squad saw us down many weeks before that game.

  • Our second goal won’t win goal of the season, but the way Humphreys closed done the space to create the chance, and Udoh’s step in and turn back to create the room for the finish were a joy to watch.

  • So was I, funnily enough, but realised it didn’t quite make sense.

A characteristically shrewd analysis of the factors which will affect our ability to sustain the present impetus over the next couple of months.

I can’t remember but in MoNs last game for us at their place on that stupidly hot day were we still in with a chance of a playoff place if results had gone our way?

it would be good to right that wrong..

  • Superb performance. Really playing some excellent passing football. Shows the depth of the squad that players come in and perform. No doubt lots of changes for next week but we will still have a very strong team. Starting to dream.

Pretty sure it was over by then, as we'd lost at home to Plymouth in game 45 and I think that featured on the "So very near" end of season video cover.

So the last game was a freebie, and Anthony Clark, a teen prospect started, but Cyrille scored his last goal. Leading to MON quipping on the video that he'd told Cyrille midseason that he'd been a good signing even if he didn't score again all season, and Cyrille had taken it literally until that goal!

(Not 100% on all of the above, but "think" so).

  • If we win by two goals or more at Stockport on Bonfire Night we will rocket to top of the table.

(yes I know we always lose at Edgeley Park but I sense a different plot this time around).

Think that checks out, but looking at chairboys on the net, I'd not remembered that from Feb 21 we went on a 1 win in 10 games run (!), and even more insane, 5 games in a row without even scoring and also 7 in 9!

It really wouldn't have taken much to end up in the playoffs that we missed by just 3 points!

  • We ended today with an X1 on the field where Skura was the longest serving player at our club and the only one not signed by Blooms - quite a stat!

  • Before the game I asked for a comfortable 3-0 win, and that’s exactly what we got.

    That’ll do very nicely indeed.

  • I’ve no idea what prompted the replacement of Gmac at half time, other than (perhaps) to instil even greater fear into Orient’s tiring defenders who would have been all too aware of Koné’s 9 minute second half hat trick against Peterborough. Pure conjecture.

Jack Grimmer was struggling with what was thought (by @bluntphil and Brian Jeeves (?)) to be an ankle problem. He had looked uncomfortable for a good five minutes, following a couple of fouls, before the Orient guy completed the demolition. I fear he may be out for at least a couple of weeks. If so, it’ll probably be between Jasper and Declan for the right back spot.

  • Outstanding in all areas of the match day experience today. The icing on the cake was Matt coming into the bar for an interview. 12 months ago his future was seriously in doubt and we were on the verge of the low point of the season with the Morecambe game. So to hear a packed Verse Suite (whatever) chant his name so loudly made me choke up a little.

On the pitch we were joyful at times. And the players just seem to be having fun. As Matt eluded to in the bar our attacking options are incredible. We’ve never had a squad with so many attackers capable of scoring consistently, certainly not in my memory.

Orient were poor but we made them poor. When they tried to match us in our passing game we closed them down and won the ball. When they tried to close us down we passed around them with ease. Who would replace Josh was the big question before the game. The answer was no one. Morley, Bakinson and Humphreys ALL did the Josh roll. Taking turns in dropping and supporting the strikers, tactically it was flawless.

Good things sometimes do happen to good people and Matt is good people. Now go and spread the word far and wide what people are missing. We will talk about this era for years I hope.
