  • Daybreak on Match Day (well slightly after) - 30 predictions in and welcome to @Cecil

Average for the Total Crowd: 5055

    Average for Away Crowd: 764

  • 4618 with 643 away

  • 4724 with 595 Posh

  • 4567 with 654 Posh

  • 4,505 with 623 away

  • 4525 with656 ppg’s

  • Whoops! Missed the boat but would have gone for 5,200 including 800 Posh people.

  • Bollocks i forgot kick off was 12-30.

  • BBC giving as 4,345.

  • Shockingly low turn out from Peterborough, otherwise I would have been much closer. 😂

  • Woeful crowd again. It's a real concern. Only downer today

  • Well chat gbt..... what an embarrassing overestimate...

  • Not great.

In contrast, Cambridge had 7,000. Before today they only had a single point.

Top Twenty for the Total Crowd: [Actual 4345]

Many congratulations to @ryan_w_kirkby2 - Forecaster of the Week with a prediction out by 160 - that is some achievement by itself.

Nobody at all within one hundred, although there are some scores that will be counting in the 'Tour de Season'.

Oh and an edit to say that Chat gpt - out by 2509 has worrying limitations doing predictive text and on this occasion the entire Gasroom can have a laugh at it being called aritficial intelligence - perhaps there will develope a new aspect to the meaning of the word "artifical". Please don't stop asking it @manchesterchairboy!

Quite a few were close with the home crowd, which I will post later. Bit of my viewpoint below this table.

I think it would certainly be worth dropping the prices for a TV game, you are after all showcasing the club to a wider audience and a half empty ground is not the best advert. It does seem to me to be a really good use of Sky money.

Despite the smallish crowd I thought the atmosphere was really good - 1st half when we were likely to score and in the second half when we had scored and was good evidence of the Gaffer achieving what he wanted when he said he wanted people to look forward to games.

So my suggestion is make it noticeably cheaper for a game which has an altered kick of time and make sure the parking and other transport arrangements are as good as they can be for that game.

  • An argument I can see against dropping prices for televised games would be complaints from season ticket holders who wouldn't benefit. It's an unknown how many games will be moved, and therefore how many matches will be discounted. This will affect the economics of buying a season ticket for some.

Personally, it wouldn't bother me and maybe an allowance for the initiative could be factored into pricing of season tickets in future years.

Another option would be to offer discounts for season ticket holders who purchase additional tickets - as a means to get new people down to Adams Park and experience it for themselves.

This also has the drawback of potentially offering a discount to someone who would pay full price anyway, but to me it feels more acceptable.

The attendance yesterday was pants and felt even lower than they stated. Making me feel that even some ST holders opted for staying home anyway (they get included in the attendance even if not actually there).

I do feel like the FA Cup match is a real opportunity to be bold with the pricing to see if we can attract some new people along. I'm all for the initiative of making the prices as low as possible for this game.

  • No other Div1 crowd was below 7,000. Yes I know it was an early kick off but given our form and position it is very disappointing. As others have said the clubs inability/ disinterest in playing tunes with pricing might suggest live match attendance is not a management priority?

  • I just saw that Posh only brought 447 fans which is poor,it looked a lot less on the tv.

  • Top Twenty for the Peterborough Away Crowd: [Published as 497]

Many congratulations to @NewburyWanderer who was closest -'only' out by 77! Nobody came within 5% - which would have been 25.

Our average over 36 predictions - including Chat gpt - was 745 and Chat gpt itself said 791 and came 22nd so everyone in this table did better than Chat gpt.

I have taken the 497 figure from "The72" post on X - this doesn't detract from thanks to @robin for posting after the game. The figures make no difference to this result as we all overestimated. It will make a difference on the 'Home Crowd Table' so if anyone has a different figure from a definitively more reliable source than please post.

Top Twenty for the Home Crowd: [Calculated 3848]

Many congratulations to @perfidious_albion who was out by just 21.

Congratulations to @ryan_w_kirkby2; @MindlessDrugHoover; @LDF; @bookertease and to @a40 who were all within one hundred. As for the away crowd we did all overestimate, but by smaller amounts, both for the absolute nuimbers and even more emphatically in percentage terms.

Chat gpt was out by 2215 - more than half the actual home crowd and almost twice as far away than the next furthest out prediction. Our average was out by almost exactly 400.

If the 12:30 kick off was a significant part of the cause of the lower than we expected crowd, then we can hope for bigger numbers on Saturday.
