Also remember seeing Larry Pritchard at Woking and Dylan Evans at Walthamstow. Apart from those plus Dennis Greene and Scott McGleish (I didn't see the Mansfield game), I'm not sure there have been any others in the last 50 or so years.
Bez certainly put the cat among the pigeons tonight when it comes to staking a claim for a starting place up front on Saturday. He was on it from the word go.
The other thing about Lubala’s hat-trick is that all 3 goals were scored with his wrong foot - his left. With the fourth goal being scored with his right foot.
Yes Declan did lose the ball which then led to their second goal.
On the more positive side it was his through ball that led to Lubala's 4th goal and most of his defending was better than that of the young Brighton players.
I think Skura looks like a real prospect. Thankfully we have Taylor in the squad now so we can gently get him into games as he still has quite a bit to learn in terms of when to play football and when not to. This is something you simply have to learn by your mistakes. Freddie Potts made a few errors in the wrong place last season but was higher up the field so not so obvious.
It's worth mentioning that some of his defending was excellent too though. And I really liked the look of Taylor, one of those "impressively quick feet for a big man" types.
Skura’s errors came as a consequence of looking too languid, rather than making poor decisions. He remains an excellent prospect. He’s bound to make a few errors.
Good to hear comments confirming my feeling that Declan Skura is going to be a tremendous asset in the very near future. I heard on the grapevine that he looked very much at home in midfield as well. Excellent.
Did anyone notice the floodlights suddenly went brighter towards the end of the first half? I wonder what triggered that. It helped to reduce the over bright advertising, which is quite distracting.
It reminded me of the first of the two Covid games we were allowed in to see, and the new lights went up a notch, seconds before kick-off.
I remember that distinctly. The lights were already brighter than the previous efforts then just before kick off, bang, they went several notches brighter.
I don’t think we have them on max for evening games usually as it’s still quite murky sometimes.
Anyone able to comment on Bartolo's 15 mins if he got up to much? Understand the team very much took the pressure off towards the end but be good to pass on how he did to the guys back in Gibraltar
There was one amusing moment towards the end where Bartolo, obviously keen to make an impression, ran to fetch the ball which had gone out of play to give to Pattenden to take quickly
Jasper's response? "Calm down Jaiden for fuck's sake. We're winning and it's nearly full time"

I see that Declan Skura played for the whole match. How did he do?

Westy v top of the table Kettering in the Conference in a 5-1 home victory?
Yes! Also against Sutton! Totally forgot Westy. Was on fire in 1990-91.
Still looks like work in progress at the back.
He was moved forward into defensive midfield holding position in the second half when changes were made in the back four
What a match that was.
"you're the best bloody fans in the league, but could you just cut down on the swearing?"

I particularly liked Beryl’s burst of pace for his 4th, looked very sharp. There are goals in the squad for the first time in ages.
If I remember rightly, for all 4 of McGleish's goals that night, the assist should be credited to A. Wind.
McGleish was one of those players who when they jump can hang in the air for a moment before heading, as can David Wheeler
Threw a decent strop too.
When was the last time that someone became our season's top goalscorer after a month of competitive football and only having one start?
Was he at fault for their 2nd goal by giving the ball away cheaply or was that someone else?
First game of the season?
Yes, I remember him throwing his shirt down as he got to the bench after being subbed towards the end (at the end?) of his time at Wycombe.
Beryly or Bez seem to be the favoured monikers! 🤫

Made I chuckle anyway
I noticed the floodlights seemed to change on a good three or four occasions. Can’t articulate the actual change though.
My own view on Skura in midfield last night was that he looked unsure and came away thinking he very much should be left in central defence.
Can't fault the kid's enthusiasm. Think it's good that the youngsters want to be able to contribute and make an impression though.
