One final note. Bloomfield is such a good ambassador for this club. I questioned him last season. I hold my hands up and rightfully apologise. My love never for him never wained. So pleased for him.
Just got back. They were a poor side lacking invention and I thought we’d bury them after we went ahead. But overall a pleasing afternoon in the beautiful autumnal sunshine.
Interesting that the consensus on here seems to be that we weren’t at our best and on the Cobblers forum it’s that we’re the best side they’ve played this season.
professional performance today, enjoyed Francos distribution, Skura wanting and being pro active with the ball, Harvie very comfortable and clever with his movement, Low is a wall at the back , BTW Taylor is absolutely massive!! Dan U and Kone work so well together, this season will be fun to watch!
I'm in the UK right now! Just have too many commitments to make this one, but I'll be at the Cambridge game next week, and have pre-ordered a 5-0 in the results menu. 😁
Northampton looked really poor both today and in the League Cup game. No pressure on the ball when we had it at the back, allowing us to lift balls over the top of their back line again and again.
First half felt like we were in total control, aside from the mistake that led to the pen.
Second half their subs, especially Fosu, got them back into the game a bit.
Overall, we were pretty good. But I don't want to get carried away as I imagine a few teams will really turn them over this season.
We've got some decent players and look quite good at times. Ultimately, I reckon we may find we lack a bit of steel against more physical sides but should have enough for a top 10 finish, and maybe even threaten the top 6.
Interesting. Not sure anyone in the ground thought it was anything other than a pen. Equally confusing was how we didn’t get one at the other end when their ‘keeper bulldozed his way through one of our players.
Apologies if it’s been mentioned already but am I right in thinking that finally brings to an end the unwanted record of us not winning from a losing position under Bloomfield?
Rattling my brain and I don’t remember that stat coming to end previously.
Stonewall penalty - I was right in front of it. Grimmer didn't have his greatest game today but as a team I thought we were excellent & should have won by a greater margin.
Any win away is good. Udohs goal is fantastic, almost video game levels of planning and passing.
On the other hand, Grimmers tackle is awful. He's charged in from miles away and gone straight to ground in the penalty area from behind. Someone in minute 1 of lesson 1 of defending school would know that's a bad idea
Wasn't on the gasroom to see the reaction to the latter, but the commentator thought the keeper made the slightest touch on the ball.
Not sure how that stopped being a pen as I thought they'd changed the rules ages ago that you can't just slam someone and claim you skimmed the ball as an alibi.
That is correct, finally a comeback! To be fair, part of the reason for our lack of comebacks is that we turned into a first half team who usually scored first. That has changed too - I believe 7 of our 10 second half goals this season have been in the second half.
Team is steadily gelling. Question is, keep playing a strong side vs Brighton U21 on Tuesday to keep that momentum or let fringe players like Bartolo, Peart etc get minutes to impress like Skura did (also could have Fred's comeback).

Probably too early in the season for cliches but, ‘winning ugly’ gets you promoted.
Thought Franco’s distribution was excellent today. As you know I’m quite critical of him.
Oh dear, sounds messy.

When Fred is healthy the question is who fits around him rather than where does he fit.

A little mention for Harvie, I thought that was his best game for us so far today.
He looked really good, especially going forward. He will be a good signing.
Good win on the road. Sometimes we coasted, other times they pushed us right onto the back foot.
My only gripe would be that we don’t shoot enough when in shooting positions.
We had twice as many touches inside the box as the cobblers, but three times as many shots.

I make that stat correct, too!
Really? It looked absolutely stone wall live.
It was a perfect tackle.
Unrelated, the only sour note from today for me was the stone island school kids chanting “Tommy Robinson” and finding it hilarious.
Switched to WTV at 65 mins, which worked fine.

looked a harsh penalty, what was Jack supposed to do but fate was kind to us.
Anyhoo off to bed with a couple of paracetamols.

Never a penalty in a million years
(The one we appealed for that is)

That is some statistic
Does that mean we scored 3 second half goals in the first half?
I was wary about going there. Need to make allowances for the fact that @Shev’s body clock was at about 4 am when he wrote that.
For God's sake don't let Peterborough know.
Alan Swann has already penned his column.
