We haven’t had our ‘that’s us done for tonight’ tweet yet. When does the free transfer window close? And has the loan window also closed tonight? I forget the deal these days with transfer deadlines.
Very much so. I mean I was told in no uncertain terms in a thread that we have struggled to do business this summer, and told I was wrong when I disputed the lack of signings.
cant wait till the new team get there back sides in gear.
Sigh. I now feel I need to point out this and the last post are full of sarcasm.
The only slight criticism is the lack of a marquee signing (that I think the club wanted and have tried desperately to get; maybe that happened in January). I think we are possibly one outstanding attack-minded player short if we are being picky.
But the likes of Humphreys, Morley and Udoh have the potential to be very exciting indeed.
To me it me it ‘proves’ the opposite. That we brought in new players early (for us anyway) and that if it wasn’t for injuries we would have only needed a couple more signings later in the window.
Although I fully respect your much more informed inner knowledge so accept your argument that there were players we wanted that we weren’t able to get.
So what your saying is, in the last few days we have had our shit together enough to be able to react to injuries we have had recently, scout players, discuss players, target them, contact clubs, agree deals and get them over the line - with no doubt some not happening an alternatives having to be sort - all while training the squad and getting them ready for match days and that is some how evidence that we can’t get business done?
i remember the days when we had no or nearly no new signings and had to console our selves with contract extensions and we were told we like to wait to the end of the window and, oh, don’t forget there’s free agents after the window we can sign.
Some short memories here, that’s for sure.
Whatever 14 new players into the club over a summer period is, it’s not evidence of a lack of business being done. You can argue about the quality of some of them, but that’s a wholly seperate issue.
To me that’s evidence of a management team that has done there homework and a new ownership structure that has come in and hit the ground running right at the start of the window and been able to back the management team up. That’s only a positive for future windows imp.
Sure, we might be light in an area or two, but no teams fans - not even Birminghams I’d bet - will be thinking that there squad is complete and they are not lighting any areas.
Personally, I think your head has been skewed by a list of names you may have heard you were after, and as some fell through you’re using that as a stick to say there’s been a lack of signings or we’re not able to do business.
14 players in - which btw is more that an entire match day squad not *that* long ago, and even close to the number of players we could name under Ainsworth ready to play on a Saturday - isn’t evidence we haven’t done business or can’t do.
It’s about context. I think you have lost your ability to judge that.

One of the options
You tease @kipper
Still nothing confirmed? GYCOL!
Or is it.......
The Cowleys have certainly proved a lot of people wrong. Unfortunately it is the people who said they were NOT overrated.
So apart from the keeper, are we working to close any other deals @kipper ?
interesting no picture of blooms with new GK, does that mean the pic is been saved until another signings had been announced?
Perhaps we have upped the bid for the Fleetwood lad.
Yes busy eve, but who knows
Blooms is up north for the Blackpool game. (Little reminder for everyone that it’s one of the Sky+ 12.30 ko fixtures too)
yeah fair point
Is it worth staying up or are we finished now @kipper ?
Really not sure, think we will be trying to be active tonight and beyond
Brendan Wiredu to Wigan.......maybe?
Ignore this. Wrong.
I really hope Birmingham don't go up!
Dykes musts have been £3m+, now Stansfield for £9m!!

The transfer window free/loan/fee has now closed.
There is no window for signing out of contract (free agent) players.
“Slammed shut” please...

seems like it’s done in my book.
disappointed at the lack of business we’ve be able to do tbh…
Just the 14 new signings. Very disappointing isn’t it?

Our squad is very, very strong.

5 signings made since that conversation proves a lack of up until that point, the 3 of those 5 cover injuries. Still light in wide areas
interesting take.

Agree to disagree on this one chap otherwise we will just go round in circles, still business to be done I think.
There's some old friends still without a club for example.

You know what I'm thinking better than me!!!!
