Delighted for Blooms who gets to manage against a multiple time European cup winner. The players will be delighted too. Really happy with the draw. We’re quietly building something amidst all the chaos and money splashing in the rest of the top 10 of the league.
Multiple times European Cup winners? Not sure about that, they won it once over 40 years ago.
If previous League Cup games against them are anything to go by there should be plenty of goals. But realistically, it'll be little more than a reserve team they put out.
Unfortunately I could only follow the game on my phone as I have a regular pub quiz on a Wednesday evening, pleased to hear that Declan Skura had a stormer, really rate the lad.
Just getting to bed after a great night at the liberty (or whatever called these days), nice ground. Excellent performance from all. In particularly from Skura, mom for me but no-one had a bad night.
Time to take a chant from the brummies now and "shit on the villa oo ahh!"
I thought Hartridge had another good game last night. Didn't see his debut at Wrexham, but since then (bar the silly sending off at Northampton) I think he's been quietly impressive. Harvie is another who looks a very solid signing.
Bakinson has some lovely touches and is clearly a decent player, but does at times have a tendency to give the ball away cheaply in bad areas.
I thought he was poor, yet again. He constantly gave the ball away, Skura had to cover for him several times because he’d wandered out of position and his yellow card was both lazy and stupid.
It’s a game of opinions but Hartridge was part of a back four that, not only kept a clean sheet against Championship opposition, but defended so well that Ravizolli did not have a single save to make.
Regarding Skura, his performances both at Wimbledon and Swansea were so impressive he deserves to start at Blackpool.
Agree on the booking for Hartridge, he seems to have a habit of picking up silly bookings. That said, I think he's look assured on the ball and comfortable bringing it forward out of defence in the games I've seen.
Just watched an interview with the Swansea manager Luke Williams who said ‘Wycombe were miles better than us.’ How refreshing to hear an opposition manager make an honest assessment in contrast to you-know-who last weekend.
I thought Hartridge was OK last night, I think he's slowly got better every game. Still not sure on Harvie and Bakinson, but hopefully just settling in still
There are players that you enjoy watching and players that are frustrating to watch.
Concentrating specifically on last night’s performance there were a few players I found frustrating to watch. One of those was Alex Hartridge.
He kept giving the ball away cheaply and there were a number of times where he was too far forward and left space in behind him. One of those occasions was when Declan Skura came across to make that superbly timed challenge.
I already have an opinion on him as a player from his time at Exeter City but he can still change it. I used to think Andy Rammell was a donkey before we signed him. He soon changed my mind and became one of my favourite players. A proper goalscorer and I loved the look of joy on his face whenever he scored.
I mean, we even had people writing off Adebayo Akinfenwa when we signed him. It takes all sorts.

Someone on Villa's timeline genuinely asking where Wycombe is. Someone replying 'in London'.
Let's put ourselves on the map, boys!
That’s a very good point, we’re supposed to play Brighton B on Tuesday 24.

They will move the BSM. Or just not play it - no-one will notice!
Aston Villa will (thankfully) take precedence over a team of PL kids. (Mind you, Villa will probably play the kids anyway).

Who they field is up to them, but it’s Wycombe Wanderers v Aston Villa in a senior cup competition.
A night to look forward to and we’ll give them a decent game.
Sorry @frequentstander just realised you were probably referring to Emery as the multi Euro cup winner
Great draw & at home too what more could you want?

True, and the reality of the PL is that the squads are so massive that we will still be significant underdogs.
Hmmm...
Maybe Makelele? Think he played against us in '07. Not sure if he was in the French 1998 team. Possibly Sissoko for Spurs as well (France 2018)?
Also, if the Argie manager turns up to see Martinez play it could be a chance for Rav to impress and earn himself a call up!
Aha! A chance to recycle my joint Wycombe-Villa scarf.

We have already buttered Villa up by voting their stadium as the best in the land. They won't be ready for the onslaught!
A typo in the third from last word in this post could have been disastrous @Erroll_Sims !
I was unable to watch, who played LB?
The underrated scapegoat of Season 24/25
I thought Hartridge had a very good game at left back, his best for Wycombe.

I agree the booking was stupid.

You could argue the clean sheet was due to the excellent performances of those players around him but I don’t want to labour the point.
As a general rule, players who are in form should keep their place, and I agree with you that Declan Skura should start at Blackpool.

A bit harsh there @glasshalfempty.
https://www.scfc2.co.uk/forum/d/7312-match-discussion-swansea-city-v-wycombe-wanderers-efl-cup-2nd-round-2024-2025/58 always interesting to read the oppositions perspective - they are not a happy bunch, but there was a few nice comments thrown our way in there.
Believe it or not I am not trying to be harsh.
