Cambridge United fan fights for his life after attack following Southend game

41 year old Cambridge United fan Simon Dobbin was put on a life support machine after he and a friend were attacked near Southend's Railway pub at about 7.20pm on Saturday.

I don't wish to bash on Southend Untied, so I should point out that from reading an online article it doesn't appear to be an attack by Southend fans just two locals from the area.

  • Was quite shocked to come accross the East Anglia's number 1 website, which has now been removed. Cambridge football hooligans, honestly thought all this was long gone.

All the best to the victim and families. As I work in Cambridge, I'm astonished this nonsense still goes on.

  • It happened in Southend and they have said they weren't football hooligans?

  • @BlueAway , I know where the incident happened, the news article mentioned a hooligan website, hosted by or associated with CUFC. Thus Abbey elements chatting and enticing violence prior to the Southend away game, thus has since been removed, I read a fair comments and I guess the Police have too.

  • Opps I mean associated with CUFC hooligans, not the real fans who support their club like human beings.

  • Oh I seee
