Kane must have come on to the pitch either immediately after Ollie scored or after the final whistle without having put on a training top over his number 9 shirt because I said to mrs micra “Ollie Watkins must have replaced someone other than Kane because he’s still on the pitch”. I just couldn’t believe it.
I suppose there’s no chance that Watkins will start on Sunday in place of Kane.
One way to look at it is that Southgate will never drop Kane, only picks his mates. Another more charitable view might be that the subs have been effective because they are subs. Coming on to attack tired defenders. Which can be an effective strategy if we can keep the game level with 20 to go.
I think the key is setting up to allow Foden to play as he did on Wednesday. And not being 2 down inside 10 minutes of course.
Saw a stat earlier - apparently Kane has scored and assisted in 63 goals this season. That’s an astonishing stat.
he’s also one of a number in shout for a golden boot in this comp.
I’m convinced he is either absolutely Knackered and running on fumes or carrying an injury. But Southgate favourite or not, I can’t see a manger dropping his captain with stats like those.
He’ll start, unless he gets an injury before Sunday..
For most of the years(s),as he moved further and further into the distance as top England scorer of all time, he gets the faint praise of course he scores so many goals as international football is so easy etc etc.
A few games in a less than firing on all cylinders team and he's getting the gasroom Vokes treatment.
Having still scored 3 so far this tournament which I think makes him top scorer even in this supposed form.
To be fair though @Malone , he hasn’t been moving or competing for headers the way he normally does at club level. My theory is that he is carrying a back injury still.
He will obviously start in the final but he has t been the same Harry Kane as we all know him at these finals. Southgate obviously values him greatly and he knows more about football than I ever will or have.
That was a tongue in cheek hypothetical question of course and you guys have answered it with conviction. Just wishing/hoping that Kane is firing on all cylinders on Sunday.
Astonishing that three goals (including a penalty) puts someone in with a chance of the Golden Boot. But of course, following Germany’s five in the opening match there has been a dearth of goals in the meantime. Or at least that’s my impression. I’ve not watched that many matches and have paid little attention to scores and statistics.
Kane scored or assisted in an enormous number of goals for Bayern Münich last season and the comparison by @Malone of his treatment by the press, TV pundits and multitudes of England fans with the treatment of Vokes by me, @drcongo and a couple of other Gasroomers does seem a trifle disproportionate.
I'd argue that another striker, playing just in front of the incredible riches England have in midfield, would have scored more. Almost any other striker. Playing in front of them would help.
You mean in front of Foden, Mainoo, Bellingham and Saka who have not provided one assist between them in seven games according to the UEFA Euro 2024 Stats.
I was going to ask if our Spanish fans, La Media Inglesa, would still support us if England win on Sunday but I assume they've already buggered off to Reading.
Hope you all have a great day, I was checking for tickets when it might have been mid to high hundreds if anything was available, quickly moved to higher brackets.
There's similar in the museum at Bayern Munich. It was seen as an English ruffian game which formed at least helped frame some of the opinions of our fans.

Kane had an excellent first half the other night, of course he'll start
See you on Saturday for some suspiciously large sausages and sauerkraut!
It's funny with Kane really.

You can only put crosses or passes in, you can't be responsible for what is done with them.
Hard to assist Kane when he’s in his own box.

Where's good? My best guess thus far is somewhere around Alexanderplatz and then towards the river.
142 goals in Euro 2020/21. 114 so far here. It has felt a little dull this time to me.
England 5 Spain 3 in 90 minutes please.
Although if we win on pens after a 0-0 snooze fest I’ll still get my flag off the gate and dance down the street with it.
Berlin is so big you can't go wrong. There are English fans everywhere. Friedrichstrasse area seems popular from previous trips.
I’m 58, portly and wearing an England shirt. I am one with my football brothers and sisters, even those from Slough, Haddenham, Colchester and Luton.

That narrows it down to.......every single England fan over there.
Z3M, looks like the convertible version.
Much prefer the Z3M coupe in S54 guise with the newer engine. Less than 80 now exist in the UK and they make big money now.
Great spot @Glenactico
There’s less dressed like me on the Bucks/Beds border. Oh to be in Germany with a Weisbier in my hand.
Is changing your profile picture to Franco going to help?
Hope so

An anglo-spanish football link, plaque in the pavement in Bilbao by the river, near the Guggenheim.
How Athletic Club Bilbao got it's English name.
Basically, it says the English lads played football on this meadow. To retrieve the ball from the river sometimes they threw pebbles to get it closer.
Pebbles cause ripples, ripples get bigger. Wave after wave, now Athletic Bilbao play in the San Mames stadium.
