In a statement on the club's website, 'Stoke manager Dan Brownlie said: "When someone sat there and created that rule – I can’t for the life of me work out what issue they ever thought it was solving.
Took the words right out of my brain. What the hell is the point of that rule.
The point of the rule was and is to give Premier League teams access to other team’s youth talent at a price of their own choosing, it is the reason why we gave up on our youth development and now go for development of players who no longer fall under that umbrella. At the time the noble intention behind it was the concern to maximise the development of the youth players which would clearly be done by putting them in academies of higher ‘quality’. I believe there was a pittance being thrown down the pyramid to sharpen focus.
Judging by the photo with Matt and Sam Grace on the official website, Brody Peart must be about 6’ so what on earth does that make Jack Matton?! I realise that Brody is slightly slumped in the photo with Jack and Jaiden (so much so that I initially worried that he might be too small!).
Binfield must have been using out of date stats. At the rate an 18 year old grows, the stats only need to be a few months out of date to make a substantial difference.

Welcome aboard
Welcome Brody - @Steve_Peart, any relation?
Not that I'm aware of @Shev!
Well, I'll be hoping he does well, just for the 'Peart has been excellent today' posts on here!
This is a great read and welcome to Brody and his family down at AP.

This not such a great read. This type of rule kills grass roots football.

The last young(ish) forward(ish) we signed from Basingstoke turned out alright.

Who's the giant in the photo gallery on the Peart signs page? He looks about 7ft in this pic!
Garath McCleary. Clearly.
Jack Matton.
Is the other one Jaiden Bartolo?
Yes.

Nar, pop eye.... look at the forearm compared to the other 2
Qué ? Quois ? Comment ?
Binfield said he was 6'3 when he signed for them earlier this year - https://binfieldfc.com/teams/first-team/9941/binfield-fc-new-signing-jack-matton/
He’s obviously growing at a rate of knots.
You can’t tell me that guy is only 6’3”.

Getting taller by the post. (No witty comments about trying to fit him in the pillar box, if you please.)
No prizes for spotting two anachronisms in my bracketed comment above.
”The 11” doesn’t sound quite right for Wycombe !
