I still think they would have dropped down the table somewhat under Eustace, but getting rid of him while in 6th and putting in an unproven manager really sowed some seeds that they are deservedly reaping the harvest of today. They must have been reading the Todd Boehly biography on how to use hubris to ruin a club.
Brilliant job Ipswich btw, no idea what the odds were but with all the money flapping about in the championship to go straight through it with mostly L1 regulars is incredible.
Not only that, but having Gary Rowett in charge is ironic in itself - he is the last chap they got rid of when doing well to sign a "big name" manager (Zola, if I remember) only to battle relegation. Things come full circle.
A nod to Plymouth and Wednesday too, who both had just about everything go wrong at times this season, but ensured that all three promoted teams from L1 managed to stay up, which can't happen too often nowadays!
With Birmingham down, the longest continuous run in the championship is QPR, Preston, and Bristol City - all ever present from 2015-16. I wonder what the L1 and L2 teams are for this stat
Have to feel sorry for Swindon that year, Hoddle had done an amazing job to get them up playing a really distinctive style, when he left he was also their best player by a margin. Gorman had a go but they had only a tiny chance of staying up.

Is AAH injured? He hasn’t featured in their last couple of games.
John Eustace relegating Birmingham is quite the story
Plymouth are still treading a fine line. A Hull goal would send them down, potentially.
Some season from Sammie Szmodics - 27 championship goals when his previous best was 15 in league one!
Well done to Ipswich! Looks like AAH will replace Fred as the most recent ex-Wycombe player in the PL.
Good to see AAH celebrating Ipswich's promotion. We couldn't make it work for whatever reason, but he's really taken his chance through the leagues.
maybe we’ll get him back on loan.
Birmingham relegated. A long time coming - feels like they've been treading water ever since they last came down from the Prem.
Birmingham’s relegation should make us reflect again on how lucky we’ve been with our overseas owners.

Seems incredible that it'll be their first 3rd tier season in 30 years!
Back then Barry Fry assembled about a 50 man squad to power through the division.
Villa fans will be loving it
can anyone remember where Brum were before the Rooney gamble? Mugs

Hate to credit that first lot with anything but you are right, not easy getting up and very difficult staying there.
I'd guess at Shrewsbury
You should be "pouring" your text books!!!
I’m sorry but those Nottingham Forest shirts deserve a points deduction.
Apparently the Birmingham fans did a pitch invasion thinking they were safe 😂
Sheffield United 2 goals off equalling the PL record of conceding 100 for the season
I'm guessing Swindon (under John Gorman) hold the current record?
Yep, and that wasn't quite as shocking as it was a 42-game season
Fleetwood I believe though they’ve gone now.

They didn’t, they just ran on the pitch for the sake of it.
They must be fuming with the way the season turned for them since the Rooney appointment.
Yeah was going to say.
The mass of boos when the Birmingham game finished suggested most fans knew exactly what was going on.
The pictures suggested it was a bunch of kids in the main running on for a few yards then swiftly off again.
Ah, a rage pitch invasion
