All those decades of CAMRA fighting the good fight only to get mugged off by all this Camden/Brewdog/American pale ale designer hipster shit that the shops and pubs want to force people to drink these days.
A very welcome breeze when they open the train doors. I'm dressed to protect myself from the wind and it's quite warm in the sun otherwise as we zoom along.
Plenty of youngsters on the train, and all the chatter is about who'll start and by how many we'll win ...
Sadly CAMRA sat on the fence when it came to 'craft beer' (and changed their definition of real ale accordingly) which is one of the reasons why there's more fizzy keg beer around now than most of us can remember.
Hope they tell the story of when I let one of their fans into the old main stand at AP cos he desperately needed a pee after a game when I was stewarding and he sneaked out and round the front to try and lump him.
Great sequence of pics, @Twizz. I’ve been ok on the journey but my legs ached a lot standing on the tube. Took me back to the decades of commuting to London from Denham, Basingstoke and Wycombe.
Thanks for the heads up (?) that you were going to document the journey. I enjoyed i
Building up to kick-off. Can't deny I'm feeling emotional right now. Both my grandsons are here, just thinking about those who can't/haven't been able to come today
It's a much better atmosphere than at the play-off final or is that just me?

Belfast to Luton

Not great weather for those of us with receding hairlines but a fine, blustery spring day nonetheless. Safe travels to all and COYB!!!!
I hope you don’t get a visit from Stan Flashman and his boys then!
Not the best of starts. Train cancelled…
So… pint of Black Forest Gateau Stout in the station pub (£3.90 a pint!).
Oh well…
It'll be better than the Camden Hill fizz you'll find in the Stadium - just £7.50 a pint!
Just driven past HW station, there's a short queue outside of maybe 50. Didn't even make it to the first zig never mind a zag.
No queue at Amersham, although less trains of course.

Standing room only though, but I did get on the train ½hr earlier than I thought due to no queue and easy parking

I wish I was standing in the other side of the train, so I was in the shade and nearer the open door. But only 2 stops to go now ...
Oops 6 stops to go
Changing train at Harrow on the Hill, it's crowded
Someone trying to stop Peterborough fans (and me!) getting to the game. Trespassers on the line south of here…
Iconic Wembley arch
It's not as busy as an England game (obviously) and not as impressive as when lit up for an evening kick-off.
Wishing I'd avoided the fan zone, as the beer choice is crap
All in the Green Man. Lovely day for it.

And you're surprised??
How stupid of me. Sorry, completely forgot you are based in the emerald isle.
The beer in the ground is better, and the next generation of Wycombe supporters is enjoying the day so far
He seems to be lined up for Sky at 7pm for half an hour according to the Radio Times.
Some of us remember when fizzy keg beer was all there was

@Twizz far better atmosphere
No comment needed
For all the Hw station nay sayers i got very lucky with the 2pm train, barely anyone about, no queue, very nice.
A motivated get away was a similar result quickness wise home but obviously crammed in like Billyo until Gerrards Cross let a few off.
We left on the final whistle and are currently at Northwood, 5 stops to Amersham.
Free parking and I think it works out a bit cheaper than the overground.
Anyway, I’m glad the Chiltern line is working better today than it did for the Sunderland final.
It makes a big difference being closer to the station and be ready to immediately leave on full time.
Also being a 42k game rather than whatever 10s of thousand(s) more Sunderland was.
