Reading away
So I'm caught in two about whether or not I go to the Reading game next Sat (9th).
My thoughts are:
Positive - Since the transfer window, I have seen a massive improvement in the squad's style of play & performance. We habe more of an attacking intent and look like we might score (final shot still needs working on). The atmosphere could be really interesting and (saying this quietly) I think they have a really good stadium.
Negative - With the ongoing finanical situation, do I really want to go along and give them my money? While I wouldn't wish this on anyone, I know that my money will either be lining the pockets of the owner OR paying their players so the owner doesn't have to.
What do you all think?

Surely your negative concern is exactly the same for any team you pay money to?
It goes to the already rich owner, or more likely for daily running costs (of which player wages are by far the biggest)
Ultimately football fans pay the wages of the players - of course they do - or at least they should do.
The alternative is a situation where fans aren't required because the enterprise is funded entirely out of the deep pockets of some billionaire who has made his money from who knows what.
Go along and support your club as we hopefully take all three points and keep Reading below us in the table.
If you don't attend and we are beaten then that that defeat will fall heavily on your shoulders otherwise.
Re: worrying about "giving money to the dodgy owner", he's not taking any money out of the club (there is none to take out). What buying a ticket in the away end would do is give the club itself money towards meeting operational costs, so that your £25 is £25 less they need from Yongge to plug their losses (which he hasn't been doing, hence the frequent missed payrolls and tax bills).
My worry about playing The Biscuitmen (is that still a thing?) is that, points deductions aside, they are a rather good team and watching Wing run the show wouldn’t be a great afternoons entertainment.
But at least they are running the club (at that point & time) in the right way. Not being an idiot who's not helping anyone but himself!

Your decision but surely your first priority is supporting Wycombe, if we all worried about where and how our hard earned cash is being spent we’d never leave the house!

What do I think?
I think I’m still too haunted to by Dave Carroll’s penalty to walk inside that stadium.
Sean Devine announcing his arrival with a 30-yard screamer surely takes the edge off that terrible penalty?
Will never forget my fellow 6 form pal saying "do something with it" seconds before he hit that!
I can't remember us missing a pen.
But relegation looked a certainty after that game before we put in a legendary run of form.
How are people getting there? Are you just driving to the area and hope to find some parking or have you booked parking ahead of the game or are you going on the train via Maidenhead?
I did something similar with J P Pittman once when he then proceeded to hit the ball in the top corner.

Can I pay on the day?
I am going but maybe not looking forward to the game but always a great experience when we go to away games.
However, I feel we will get something out of this game.
@railwaybeth and I are going and looking forward to it - first time either of us have been to the ground.

You have a new station that is on the West side of the Green Park development. The ground is on the East side.
It is a 15-20 minute walk to the ground and you have regular trains every 30 mins.
we have been before with Forest and parked somewhere in the industrial estate ‘pay on the day’.
This time we have booked a parking space with Just Park on someone’s driveway. Looks like a 15 minute walk from the ground . Costs £6 to park
If you’re getting there in good time then I highly recommend parking here, Hartland Road. No charge, never failed to get a spot having been regularly when they had a sellout. 15 min brisk walk. Feel free to thank me later 😉.
What I will enjoy about the trip to Reading, in addition to the 3 points, is leaving the ground getting in my car and onto the M4 in double quick time. Hopefully arriving back home in Wycombe before 6pm.
Normally for a game at Adams Park I'd just be leaving the Vere Suite at that time.

Just like at Adams Park, the queue to leave the car park at the Madejski Stadium is long and tortuous. Unless you live in Twyford I doubt you'd get back before 6 (assuming you're not one of those "leave early to beat the traffic" sorts).
The only downside is the trains are normally just two carriages, so it might get a bit cramped. Though the journey to Reading is barely a few minutes so it should be bearable.
I won't be parking at the ground though, so I'll dodge that.
