@bargepole Wasps muscled in like a cuckoo in the nest. The intent was clearly to pinch our stadium and use it to part fund the Shark Dome, which would see 5,000 of us rattling around in an atmosphere free stadium like MK Dons.
This possible move is nothing like it.
A reasonable comparison would be having a lodger for a couple of years to help pay the mortgage vs having a lodger who insisted you sell your house and buy something much bigger that you didn’t need, while installing an expensive new heated swimming pool despite you having no interest in swimming.
Ironically, Oxford were also keen for Wasps to play at the Kassam, but the board of Wycombe Wanderers were keen to secure the deal, initially worth £1m over two seasons.
I'm not totally convinced a rugby guy can call an Oxford fan uncivilised.
And it's been done to death.
It's likely...
That any deal with Oxford actually ended up giving us a profit - which it's been stated that sharing with Wasps didn't.
That our beloved BPF wouldn't relegate Wycombe to deep inside the paper as they prioritised Wasps.
That the pitch wouldn't be as wrecked.
And most of all, that our owner didn't make seemingly ever call based on what our tenant wanted, to a point where we almost switched positions to become the tenant, in a deal mooted that no-one ever did explain how the heck we'd have any future from it.
Ticketing? Matchday stewards and policing? Cleaning up the stadium and toilets post-match? All of those cost money.
Then there's the issue of getting Council permission for matches almost every weekend of the season, and potential objections from the Sands Residents Association.
When the trust took over from Steve Hayes, Don Woodward and Co went through the accounts and came to the conclusion that Wasps were now costing WWFC money . One of the main reasons for this as I remember from a trust meeting, was that in their latter years Wasps crowds had dwindled but since WWFC supplied the catering and stewarding for Wasps games they had to ask Wasps for their estimated attendance. Wasps would say we’re expecting 9000 for the next game, WWFC would have to supply enough food and drink and stewards for 9000 , but in reality 4500 turned up. In the end WWFC were in fact subsidising Wasps games. In addition to this when Steve Hayes’s original deal to sell Wasps fell through and Hayes threw his toys out of the pram and refused to fund Wasps any further, the trust took the decision to fund Wasps until new owners could be found in the hope that once new owners were found they would pay WWFC what was owed ( about £400,000). WWFC kept WASPs alive for 6 weeks until Wasps was finally sold. Then we had the whole shenanigans of Wasps refusing to pay WWFC what was owed to them for some months , something which almost did for Wycombe Wanderers.
Having a ruined pitch might give us a home advantage given our style of play in comparison to most of the rest of the league. It'll be our final glorious step back to full Ainsworth-ball. Bayo must have a son who's old enough for first team football by now.
Why would renting a stadium automatically include the provision of stewards and police or indeed any other match day cost. It could well be a condition of the rental that renter provides sufficient operating staff as I’d guess that Oxford currently have to provide that in their current rental.
If they want a “turn-key” deal the price should reflect that on top of the income we would want

Could you share a link to their thread about it? Keen to see their thoughts.
I wouldn't want them to share AP, but at least Oxford United play a real sport.
We should let them play at AP. 1) for the money, and 2) because it's bloody hilarious that they need to.

As if their new ground is going to be called the Triangle?
Steady on now #Shev, "human behind" ? ... We are talking OUFC fans here after all.
Just imagine how much it might be worth if it wasn't on the edge of Blackbird Leys.

@arnos_grove , what you have said above was only true from 2009 onwards, when Hayes acquired control of both clubs.
It wasn't the case when the original deal was struck in 2002, as this article shows (yes I know it's the BFP, but it is true in this case): Wasps says yes to Adams Park | Bucks Free Press

As they say, money talks and bullshit walks.
Why are you still here then?

Assume that it's a clever way of not having to bother having a 4th stand?
Funnily enough yes, teams WERE keen to bring them in when it appeared to be a glorious come to papa sweet money scenario.
When it ended up being anything but that, plus us almost losing our ground and safety net to them, perhaps it wasn't quite so brilliant.
I had a quick look for an Oxford FC thread called "if only we'd brought Wasps in" and strangely there isn't one.
The idea that Oxford would ruin our pitch is ludicrous. Their style of play is so cultured it's almost ballet. (According to Oxford fans).
I have a mate who genuinely thought the spirals at each corner of the san siro were for cars to use and park.
They should have filmed the Italian Job in Milan instead
All speculation but £1m+ per season of extra revenue would be too good to turn down.
It is almost no effort for us and there's very little opportunity cost.
Can't see it myself, but as another poster alluded to, it would be the ultimate humiliation.
Crime in multi-storey car parks...wrong on so many levels

Oxford use the same stewards as Wycombe - it's why we can't be at home on the same day at present
True - they basically levitate above the grass as they caress the ball.
Getting blood out of a stone would probably be easier than actually getting the rental payments off them.
That is genuinely funny.
I went in October and the spirals are closed.
Did @LX1 mate try to drive up one of them?

As John Steinbeck once famously wrote : I wouldn’t share the steam off my piss with Oxford United .
