Port Vale sack their manager now. Let's hope that the Couhig strategy of sticking with Matt works out. All the other teams around us are certainly going into panic mode at the moment.
I personally think he will wait till summer, but we shall see. After what he has been through at QPR, joining a relegation battle with the games already running out may not be that attractive.
That’s a helluva deal. But he deserves it after the rum deal (or at least the way it turned out) at Sheffield Wednesday. I’ve lost track of his moves since then,
The best spell we had at Wanderers (sorry Bolton!) was when Big Sam was given a ten year contract and given the time to build and look what he did. Equally Ian Evatt knows he’s got about the safest job in football with Sharon and FV because they know it takes time, even seasons, to build. Look at how long it took Gareth but your club stuck with him, then look at someone like Charlton who chop and change at will. It’s ridiculous so well done PV let’s hope they do give big Darren the time and finance to build a sustainable club and I wish him well with it. I’ve a lot of time for Darren who seems a genuinely good gut but don’t say that to the Donny fans who still blame him for leaving them for Wednesday. I mean Donny v Wednesday, is there really a choice to make? 😁

3 wins in 20. MB has 3 in 19, although that then goes to 6 wins in last 24!
Matt 'the' Butcher is going to be a midfield general and Kone is goal hungry.
Everything is going to be fine.
Typically thick boneheaded stokery
Could this be a job for Ainsworth..?
Would be a decent fit apart from location
If he wants to stay in football management, he's going to have to be prepared to move around.
I am sure they would love him. A chance to shape another team or club in his identity
Can’t see Dobbo following him up there if he did though.

I think Port Vale would sign Gaz in a heartbeat.
Darren Moore is the new Port Vale manager on a 5 1/2 year deal!
Phew!!

'uddersfield, I believe, @micra
Good choice I think. You need to go somewhere where you can build these days. Going to a 'big club' is always risky from the start.
Although I hope he has to start the re- build from L2, obviously!
Anyone want to take my bet that Darren Moore will not be Port Vale Manager at the end of the 2028/29 season?
I’d better not !
Fair point Dev, but isn’t the length of the deal really an agreement on the size of the compensation package when you’re either sacked or poached?
I thought the same thing as @DevC about the way it was announced, as it is an odd thing to say in this era of short tenures.
"The five-and-a-half-year contract will see Darren Moore remain with the club until the Summer of 2029."
