I had to do a double take to make sure I hadn't mistakenly ended up on a Reading forum, but then again it is better than a 'will Saxon shore up the defence?' pun that originally came into my head that might have pleased 3rd century historians and fans of obscure instrumental rock groups alike, but precious few people here.
I apologise to the Saxon fan who was offended by my original post. I am actually not averse to sub-Judas Priest yelping by a man called Biff and I do like Wheels of Steel and 747.
They were loud. Saw them at Wycombe Town Hall. Wheels of Steel had surprisingly just charted (normally unknown for a metal band singles wise). They had already committed to a C League tour venue wise. Fond memories, ears ringing on my paper round for days, standing next to Biff as he ordered drinks at the bar. Homely stuff!!
Due to the title of the thread it was inevitable that the discussion would deviate! I'm guilty in hoping that it would and happy that it did. Sorry, @micra. I've seen the band many times and when Mr Earley signed he immediately became my favourite player.

And the fact we seemed to always beat them for about 6 or 7 years!
Saxon shoots over the bar, the Wycombe fans in unison shout “Lower Earley”
Must be me. Don’t get it.
That’s very good. We need more content for the Reading based Wycombe fans!
Thanks @floyd. Slightly obscure.
I’m
worried now that KVY will play, have a stinker, and I will be totally vilified !!

Were Saxon an obscure instrumental rock group? I seem to remember leather trousers and sub Judas Priest screaming...and they got on TOTP.
Saxon Shore was the band I was thinking of, I saw them at Moles in Bath in 2010. No leather trousers from what my addled student memory can recall.
Wow. Simply wow.
Leggings are never a good look are they?
Did you see Moles has shut down?
Sad times
Indeed. The demise of grassroots gig venues around the country is pretty depressing.
Tickets purchased. Should be a fantastic night. Three absolute legends of rock.

I may have had a Saxon patch on my denim jacket back in the day. If I had a denim jacket that is. Which I can neither confirm nor deny.
Saxon were one of the loudest bands in the UK. My mate went to a gig in the 80's and his ears were ringing for days.
I never saw them live. Could have done at Download 2016 but they were on at the same time as Napalm Death. And you don’t miss Napalm Death.
Not much on here about Saxon Earley.
But I keep looking.

I’m still looking.
I’ll probably stop looking and subsequently discover that I’ve missed something sensational about the subject of this thread.

I keep making the same mistake. "What's he done now?" I think to myself.
Plymouth Argyle defender Saxon Earley suffers major injury setback - Plymouth Live (plymouthherald.co.uk)
Well bugger. We need a left back desperately.
A serious repetitive injury like that does not look at all good for the lad.
We can make do what we have for 10 more games.
Leahy is ok there, and JJ can slot in if needs be.
Review it properly in the summer.
