I had heard a lot of very positive comments about this lad from Argyle fans long before he came to us. If they are right could be a very good signing indeed.
Just thought I'd pop in to offer a Plymouth perspective on Saxon.
We signed him this time last year from Norwich, though he'd been on loan at Stevenage where he'd been playing left-back. Their fans were gutted to lose him and so was their manager. We played a back three at the time but he seemed to adapt pretty well to wing-back. He doesn't have electric pace or fancy footwork but he is a natural defender - aggressive in the tackle and positionally sound. He even managed to grab a couple of goals for us by being in the right place at the right time.
We started this season playing a back four and it looked like Saxon would be a semi-regular member of the team. He played really well in a 0-0 draw at Watford in August but we haven't seen him since. If he can rediscover his fitness then you've got a very good player.
Nigel Lonwijk is another promising talent. He's very comfortable on the ball but he does occasionally lack focus and he made a few costly errors for us last season. That said, he was playing his first proper season of senior football and in a team who played high-risk football from the back. I liked him and think he'll do well for you.
Butch, meanwhile, is a solid pro who won't let you down. He's one of those steady eddie players who won't necessarily catch the eye but will do all the basics well. He also has a handy knack of popping up with the odd goal from outside the box, including one against our friends up the A38 that will go down in Argyle folklore.
You've basically got three League One title winners in your squad now and I think you'll have no problem staying up.

We were lucky enough to have him at Wealdstone for 5 years. 176 appearances and 10 goals.
The Forest folk were even luckier of course 401 appearances and 63 goals.

Saxon Earley is a good player. A lot of Norwich fans were annoyed that he was sold to Plymouth

I've never really disliked Plymouth tbh, I like it down around there.
I always quite liked Plymouth and have a couple of friends who support them, it was very much the delightful Derek Adams who poisoned the well
