Ajax knocked out of the Dutch club by fourth-tier amateur club Hercules. Basically unheard of. A shocking season so far for a club who were UCL semi-finalists only four years ago - already 23 points off the page in the league.
But also goes to show the shifting balance of power in European football. When you're losing some of your best players to West Ham, a middling PL side, there's not much hope.
I can't see PL clubs going for it. So far it is Real Madrid and Barcelona only. Maybe we should offer to make a third? Those would be quite the rivalries!
First one looked like a clear foul, but the second was a complete joke. Still waiting got a good explanation as to why VAR can't look at a second yellow.
The difficulty is they would need to look at all yellow cards, not just a second leading to a red. For instance, if the tackles by Boly had been committed in the opposite order, he would still have been "correctly dismissed" as the second tackle, in that scenario, would have arguably been a yellow.
You could not allow a review of both tackles at the time of issuing a second yellow as that would open the door to "changing a decision after a restart". Once that cat was out of the box all hell would break out as we'd still be reviewing goals/cards from games which ended weeks ago. You'd just create an even worse environment around VAR than already exists.
I agree with all of that except the bit where you seem to be suggesting we need more VAR not less.
Unless the aim is to entirely remove open play and just have a series of short plays and set pieces for Americans and the the YouTube generation, and make it much more like American football or short form cricket, and that would be unspeakably shite.
Oh God no, @StrongestTeam I hate VAR. Give me back good old fashioned crappy refs and linemen who I can dominate my old glasses to any day.
I'm just say that it's how you'd have to change the VAR rules to allow them to review yellow cards. Which would be an absolutely terrible idea. They can't do the job they were supposedly introduced for, I don't want them having more influence on the outcome of a game.
I've edited my first reply so it doesn't appear I'm actually advocating such a change in VAR rules.
Mad thing that wasn't even the most heinous VAR cock-up of the weekend. How Odegaard got away with that blatant handball against Liverpool is beyond me.

Rob should do this just to watch Peterborough froth at the mouth.
What's the Spanish for 'You know what you're going to get with Wycombe?'
Sabes que vas a conseguir con Wycombe
Missed opportunity for the club there.
Is Moyes really the one who's job is under threat here?
Who's going to be United's next interim manager? I'm not sure Ten Hag will last until January.
Have to feel for any Leyton Orient fans who made the long trip up to Bolton. Currently they're down 3 nil after 10 mins..
Stevenage in the top two as it stands. Sickening.
Luton 1-0 Newcastle: an uplifting result for several reasons
I'd love it if Luton stayed up.
Same. And they go into Christmas with as many goals as Man Utd in one less game.
That red card for Willy Boly was an absolute mess
Two good tackles...surely they will appeal but that does not help with the points.

Because thems the rules @ReturnToSenda.

Is that explanation any good?

You think the first one was a good tackle??? πππ
On the basis of this clip Moyes should get a knighthood sooner than the sack
The 2-0 win against United and the poor Newcastle result have really highlighted how well they have been doing. Sixth at Xmas is top drawer.
If that face doesnβt scare the Charlton lads into stepping up their gameβ¦..

I meant the two tackles that led to the second yellow. For me he got the ball both times.

There are people on this message board who care about pl/el greed.
