I hate the fact that I appear to have a blind spot when it comes to recognising the footballing attributes of Sam Vokes. I’m not sure I’ve ever had a negative word to say about any other Wycombe player. It’s very uncomfortable for me but I can only speak as I find.
I think comparing how the team played after Matt Bloomfield took over last season with the way they are starting to play now is like comparing chalk and cheese. He now has more or less the squad he wanted following a really successful summer recruitment campaign.
Brandon Hanlan, as we all know, can blow hot and cold and I am reminded of what Bayo Akinfenwa said about Fred Onyedinma. He said he needed to get angry to snap out of his laid back approach and produce his best performances. In the wake of the kerfuffle about the rumoured transfer to Wrexham, Brandon came on as a substitute against Bristol Rover (his former club) and produced a slide rule pass for McCleary to run on to and score the clinching second goal.
To suggest that replacing Vokes with him in some games towards the end of last season might have cost us the playoffs seems grossly unfair. The team as a whole was struggling to adjust to the different approach which BM was seeking to implement and which now seems to be coming to fruition.
That basically means we all think that Wycombe have a very strong spine to the team. While its a mixed bag on who is up front between Vokes & GMc, it does make me nervous that we need to start bringing in someone new or different to learn the "Wycombe way" off these 2 pro's as neither Vokes or GMc have time on their side. Has opinions changed on Hanlan? Is the club hoping to keep Taylor on for longer after this season (sorry @Forest_Blue) or will we be going in a new direction?
Taylor will struggle to break into the Forest first team at premier league level surely? Forest tending to ‘buy better’ recently and for example have just signed Gonzalo Montiel a World Cup winner with Argentina in Qatar last year. We think that he is the first World Cup winner ever to play for Forest…the standard is high!

To summarise the votes by various posters on this thread, the top 5 mentions are as follows:
Scowen 17
Low 15
Stryjek 14
Leahy 11
Vokes 6
Garland 2
That's how the two of you should be known
Max, Taff, Scowen, McCleary, Vokes
And Taff would be the first name off the team sheet when he somehow contrives to lose a leg in the warmup.
Martyn Lee or Rob Lee?
