Thought Skura and Pattenden were excellent tonight, as mentioned by others, wouldn't be surprised if one or both managed to break through like Forino did, especially considering our current injury situation.
Having said that, I bumped into Taff tonight, you'll never guess where, yes that's right, Cressex filling station! He said he's training again, and should be back fairly soon.
Not so long ago when we were struggling financially, and it was £10k for a win and £5k for a draw, the income from this competition kept us afloat. Don’t know if it’s still the case but I know at that time the prize money came from the Premier League and not the headline sponsor.
Indirectly perhaps as I think a Premier League broadcasting contract (and what cut was being offered to Efll clubs) was being negotiated at the same time, almost certainly a like it or lump it scenario but possible we got another percent or two for accepting the proposal.
There might also have been clubs who thought having big name clubs sending any sort of team would boost crowds but a combination of bad publicity and the very separate nature of a modern u21 side from a first team at that level probably combined to kill that.

Well, hardly!!! Just my little jest.
Quite.

...and then he put his back out pumping petrol? (Kidding, Taffs!)
This is the one big reason getting as far as possible will be useful.
You do wonder how this cup is sustainable though.
You don’t think all those Premier League U21 sides get to play in this competition for free do you?
it’s basically being subsidised by Big Football.

Not sure that was true given it cost more to run games than was being received!
