Yes, that is true! Vokes with him and McCleary either side would be a nice front three though. Hopefully it's a sign there may be some flexibility in the system.
It isn’t that he can’t defend Mooney, it’s just that a good wingback has to get up and down the flank quickly and Kieran’s just not suited to that. He can certainly play a front 3 role an 8 or a 10 supporting a centre forward and is just happier in that role but at Bolton we already had players in there so he wasn’t getting enough game time and whilst it’s sad to see him go it’s best for everyone and we’re just glad he’s gone to a good club like Wycombe. Hell score goals for you played in the right position I’m sure of that so good luck to both Yourselves and Kieran for the season 😉
The problem is that Bloomfield's preferred tactics have been frustrated by play being bogged down when play reaches the wing backs and we mostly either lose the ball or the attack stalls. I would imagine getting in a player of proven quality in that position would be quite high up the list of things to do, though with Dale Taylor's injury he might get a chance to feature more centrally for now at least.
@FarmerCee is my favourite oppo fan (along with the co-commentary guy from Southend whose name I always forget!) It’s all about quality, spite-free, rational discussion for me. The Derby guy often let himself down by appearing to make a good point, then shoe-horning in an unnecessary passive-aggressive salty dig. The Plymouth guy was just a clown. Don’t mind a bit of banter, but there have been a few unwelcome ReDaNdWhItEfOrEvEr types over the years.
I’m particularly excited to read the comment “every time he came on he delivered...”

I'd expect he's predominantly a wide forward but might be asked to play wing back from time to time.
We don’t usually play with wide forwards though.

I’m happy to come out of retirement and play wing back!
I’m crap though.
Don't see that, as the reason he gives for leaving Bolton (and Rotherham) is due to the fact that he doesn't want to play wing back.
I really hope he's come here because he's decided he wants to be a striker. We could do with one.

How nice to see an opposition fan post good information in a kindly and respectful manner, thanks FarmerCee.
In fairness, other than that knob from Plymouth, I think all oppo fans who post on here are pretty respectful.
Thanks glasshalfull glad some of us can converse politely, it’s nice to hear views from other sides. ☺️

Brian Jeeves is the Southend fella
@ReturnToSenda 👍️ Thanks Tom - memory therapist and stats guru...
@BrianJeeves68 is one of our own at this point.
Was he a free transfer?
I believe Phil had to pay quite a lot of sweets for him.

Just seen Sadlier's 60 second showreel, and my word that's a serious 60-seconds worth...
I did have to do a double take when speed reading through this thread...
phew...one word...
