Not having Bell above JJ,he was unplayable for about 6 months when Gregory sorted out the defence and he could fly down the wing, but then he fecked off, you'll be wanting Wing next. Apart from anything else Guppy could do that better when he was 25 or 35 and was a better crosser, and the likes of Betsy, Carroll and Currie were probably better wingers than Bell. Gus and Danny Senda just as good at wing back in spells.
Scowen (Brownie as well any Tys up front on his own?)
Ryan
Tyson
Scott
Only from my time, impossible really to say that some of the old boys from the last century weren't better, Unluckiest not to be in there would be after Brownie are some of those who weren't here long - Anis, Jordan Ibe, Matty Phillips and a host of loanees undoubtedly very talented. No doubt missed a few.
Like I said, it's impossible.. I'd pick an 11 then be exactly like yourself, start remembering all the great players that have missed out. So I'm not even going to try lol
You do know Matt Lawrence was a very good player don’t you? Raw as fuck when we first signed him from non league. Left, came back and developed into a very accomplished footballer. Made 350 appearances for Palace and Millwall including an FA Cup Final. Plenty of games as a captain too.
Exactly, Bell might have been a better LWB for a time, JJ was a better LB and CB for a decade, better set piece taker and a better person, might be slowing down a bit but contribution immense and very good player. People will remember the corners and free kicks when he retires but just as many last ditch tackles and goal line clearances.
Not sure he’s been mentioned yet but I’d like an honourable mention for Jermaine Easter.
Came in and seemed to struggle to score a goal but the runs and positions he was getting in seemed to be several times better than most of the team around him. A preseason with the team and he was on fire and got a deserved move up the leagues
Mike Williamson has played in 150 plus games while in the Premiership and Roger Johnson in over 120. Not sure we’ve had any players go on to make more appearances in the top level.

Jamie Bates not mentioned yet, I think, one of the greats.
I think Stoke City were close to making an offer for Sir Matt.
Correct, Bates and McCarthy were easily the best ever PAIRING since I've been supporting the club
Agreed. I can't think of a better pairing you would want covering your back. Rock solid.
Ah man, this is why I hate doing these. How the hell could I have left out Bates and McCarthy??
Dear oh lore
Yet selected Taff, dear oh dear.
What ... you mean actually giving him proper service, it would be a thing of beauty
Gary Holt was absolute class in midfield
Mark West has to be the first name on the team sheet.
(Up front with Garner)
If it’s best 4-4-2 then this is mine…
Taylor
Lawrence Williamson Evans Bell
McCleary Scowen Doherty Guppy
Devine Tyson
Doherty was a great player but that sideways pass that played in Shevchenko still haunts me.
Matt Lawrence......FFS
I knew I shouldn't have bothered
Only one Steve Mcgavin, for the best 11 although he did play for the Essex apes.
And Canadian defender Mark Rogers for the favourite

Seriously, no mention of Eze or Mehmeti yet?
Mehmeti!!!!! Jesus wept I've had an absolute mare
Eze is ineligible as he is a loanee. All time XI basics

Everyone should name their XI and then a few days later name their ‘players I forgot,’ XI

Put down your shandy. I don’t like Bell more than JJ but in a 4-4-2 he was a better player.
Agreed. But we all make mistakes. Mind you Jamal Blackman’s kick at Spurs is still haunting me.
Other way round wasn't it? Bell was better In a wing back system.
That one was horrible. Find touch and chances are we see that game out.
To be filed with the Doc woeful Chelsea pass, the Bloomfield "just kick it out" playoff one and the Col Utd wind assisted goalie goal.

They also played together for a while at Wycombe.
Too many to choose from as has already been said.
I do indeed, in many ways the point I was making. I was annoyed with myself for forgetting about him when I selected my 3 (three!!!) teams
Didn't he do sod all for 6 months, be on fire for 6, then demand to go immediately, think we even had to loan him out.
Tbh, I never really warmed to Jermaine Easter for some reason
