Yes, and they've done a decent job on the whole, but let's not act like they sought us out - they just happened to be in the right place at the right time.
There's a sliding scale where football clubs go from 'community centre' to 'multinational business' and League One is probably where things start to get tricky. A sense of local community with competition was probably best served by It's a Knockout but that's long gone now and we somehow have to balance supporting something we love with making money and winning things. It's not easy.
If it comes anywhere near me at a football match I'll set it on fire. It's an embarrassment to the club that I hold dear to myself. Since at least one of those photographed has proclaimed themselves to be a member of the new 1887 focus group I'm really pleased I didn't contrubute to the funds for flags and banners.
If you think that Matt Bloomfield or any of the players are going to be impressed seeing that banner displayed at AP or any of the away games you must need your head examining.
I must have an outrage gene missing. I don't really care what people say on social media or if the chairman confidently predicts Premier League in two years. (I had forgotten why I blocked LDF)
Please never leave the gasroom Wedoverman, you always bring a smile to my face with your down to earth honesty and humour in debates that can sometimes get too serious.
I do feel massively confident of winning on Tuesday. Maybe I am just overreacting to the Saturday curse, but I also think we have fallen foul of a couple of awful refereeing decisions that have not helped our cause. Winning breeds confidence, so hopefully it all begins to turn against Orient.
Fantastic is a bit of a stretch, but Gareth found a way to win in the immediate period after Mehmeti left, so it's also not right for people to suggest that sale itself hijacked us.
There were a few injuries afterwards though that may have done even with Gaz staying.
But they're not objectifying women, are they? Heterosexual men saying they shag women is a fact (or wishful thinking) but it's just stating the obvious. Objectification is not a man's inevitable instinct to see a woman as desirable, it's when that instinct takes precedence over more important considerations in an inappropriate context. Eg, that woman isn't as qualified for the job as the other applicants but I'll hire her coz she'll look pretty. Or, I didn't bother listening to the boss because I was too busy looking at her...
It's unlikely I've used the term 'cultural Marxism' as it's not particularly accurate. As for 'Stone Island warrior', that sounds suspiciously like another bit of class prejudice to me.
Just to be clear, this flag isn’t associated with the 1887 and a statement was issued making this clear that the message on that flag isn’t in line with the values of the group, nor is it condoned.
You’ve turned the wording on this flag into a intellectual debate about sexism/misogyny/heterosexuality when the bottom line is that it’s just stupid and offensive and doesn’t reflect Wycombe’s values as an inclusive, family club.
Yes, of course. Whilst mentioning that the terms tend to be conflated nowadays, the writer agrees with me that they are different and articulates the reason far better than I can on this forum.
"So, I suggest you whiners and losers go back to playing Football Manager in your Mom's basement and leave the work of building a squad to the people involved."
I admit that I might be splitting hairs over the difference between sexism and misogyny. I promise you I don't look for arguments on here, I'm no masochist, but my suspicion is that some might see those lads as an embarrassment regardless of the flag. Obviously nobody would admit that but the 'Stone Island Warrior' comment sounds to me like a general distaste for young, working men and their cringy lack of refinement.
Glasshalffull - I attached those words to your quote as those were the words of Kevin Couhig. Some may well view those to be completely independent of the club but I don't.
Surprised you don’t get it Alan, in the interest of clarity this is where @Meursault appears to be coming from.
If we are to live up to our positioning as an ‘inclusive’ club then perhaps the ownership and extended family (where the quote recently came from) should be more ‘arm round the shoulder’ than ‘finger wagging’ regarding fan engagement.

It's just sycophancy.
'But they saved the club!!!'

I share the sentiment, but unfortunately they have to be fore retardant to get in the ground.

I’ve examined the photo and can guarantee the safety of all of our women and most of our beer.

Yep, new week. Win both of these this week, which is perfectly doable then everyone will be happy again !
LOL 😆
I always thought, though, that the sign of growing old was when policemen, doctors and teachers started looking younger than they used to.
IIRC it was ‘critical theory’ rather than cultural Marxism.
Based on that photo, I'm assuming 18 & 87 refers to the cut-off ages for joining their club. No one older than 18 or younger than 87 ?
Morning everyone,

Have you read the article?
Probably the sort of thing that felt cool when you were 13 but just looks utterly moronic to anyone even vaguely near adulthood.
You’ve turned the wording on this flag into a intellectual debate about sexism/misogyny/heterosexuality when the bottom line is that it’s just stupid and offensive and doesn’t reflect Wycombe’s values as an inclusive, family club.

I think it's splitting hairs - and even if you disagree, surely you recognise the flag is pretty crude and embarrassing.
Yes, we're an "inclusive, family club"...
"So many "supporters" of Wycombe are useless."
"So, I suggest you whiners and losers go back to playing Football Manager in your Mom's basement and leave the work of building a squad to the people involved."
Not quite sure why you have attached that quote to my post.

I must admit I always find the CP Company goggle jackets a bit cringe, regardless of who's wearing them
I'm not sure the scarves/bandanas were a part of the original casual subculture either? Covering your face does seem a bit... Sus.

Thats all.
