My instant reaction to this one would be NO CHANCE. NOPE. NOT A CHANCE IN HELL. Highly rated at West Ham, worthy of Championship at least, probably a breakthrough season for him at West Ham.
Agree, but then apparently Blooms and his PowerPoint presentations and tactic boards have been up at least two other premier league clubs and brought us back two loan signings, one a full International who had already been blooded at this level so could have taken a step up a bit higher, and another who might be less tried but has been linked to Barcelona and plays for the club who not only won almost everything on offer last year but have also been known to sell youth teamers for £10m+
I doubted the understated nature of Matt compared to the obvious personality of GA. But I have been pleasantly surprised that not only have calls been answered but valuable youngsters entrusted with us. So should I be shocked if he does turn up? It would be astonishing though.
I sold Blooms short, I forgot Sheff Utd have been promoted so it's 3 Prem clubs that have trusted us with a loanee so far. I know it could leave us short for next season but we were short 3 weeks ago and three weeks into last season so think we can worry about that later.
Any more additions to the first team squad will probably mean exits for some, I can't see senior players being moved on so former development players will probably end up on loan of mutual agreements I guess.
I think there's maybe a couple of bits of cover / competition we could do with so maybe we'll go with a stronger than expected squad until January. The rules mean you probably have to.
You are right though, if we were to be lucky with injuries and don't rotate massively there will definitely be some who might want to seek opportunities elsewhere.
I like what we have done in the market, but between the first full MB season and the amount of squad churn, I have absolutely no idea where to expect us to finish! It's one big mysterious adventure...
A top six would be extraordinary. A top 10 would be great. That is no reflection on our squad or our management but a reflection on the strength of the league. As with every season luck plays a massive role. You have a left back who hits 12 goals and you stand a chance, you have a star forward bust a knee in August you have to be more pragmatic I guess. Certainly more optimistic than I was 4 weeks ago. I had this horrible feeling that Matt was ringing round clubs and not even getting past the receptionist.
i think are are still after 2 or 3 one of which is in the 3 mentioned, these are viewed very much as icing on the cake signings, such an exciting window.
Expecting this to be an up and down season, due to the fact we've signed alot of young lads, so inconsistency is to be expected.
Tricky raw winger would do the trick for me. Someone that can come on with 20 to go and terrify a tiring defence. Campbell sometimes did this but not enough for me. I have lost faith in Hanlan but hope to be proven wrong this season, if he fires we won't need said winger.
Saturday seemed the absolute worst case scenario for him. Tough game we barely have any attacking ball, well shackled, and the role of out and out striker.
Hanlan is anonymous whenever he's put in the middle, which happened far to often in the latter half of last season with Vokes out. When he's out wide he's infinitely more effective.
Have to say a lot of posters seem to think @kipper has the inside track on incomings. Not so sure. We haven’t had the names before they sign and sorry , mentioning on the forum before a player signs will not certainly not scupper the deal. Have people not read the transfer rumours in every paper prior to players signing. If you really are in the loop, give us the names.
@davecz We've already covered this issue in the chat, please read back through. If he was to name names, he'd then give away his source which will then have further impacts down the line or cause the deal to be pulled (by player or club).
Can we stop going around in circles about this and move on?
Whilst I prefer him starting from a wide position, "whenever" is far too much of an over-statement. Off the top of my head, his performances at Bristol Rovers, Port Vale and at home to Ipswich last season say otherwise.
To be fair he has forecast incomings for quite a few of our signings so I for one give him the benefit of the doubt. Keep posting @kipper your input is valued.

Yes I tend to agree @TheAndyGrahamFanClub

Indeed, you never know ...
Well Well Well.......
So is that the last of our signings @kipper ?
A speedy wide man would be good but I can’t be greedy as we have signed some really good players.

Are you able to give an indication of what positions they are still looking at?
I think we are a strong attacking option short at the moment.
Very encouraging window nonetheless.
In order of priority I’d be looking at a tricky winger, a midfielder with balanced attributes & solid stamina and a young target man.
But very much agree with the sentiment that anything now is icing on the cake.
Which were those three? KVY, Taylor and one other?

Hanlan is a strange one...at times he looks unplayable and a threat and other times, not so much.
He was waving his arms about in frustration in a way that Dobbo would not like on Saturday, though I could not see why.
He was brilliant at Bristol Rovers away last season. Unfortunately Hanlan did not produce that level of play much of the time last season.
The thing is we all know he can do it.
Perhaps once Taylor finds his feet and distracts defenders enough or Vokesy is back as a focal point, Brandon will be unshackled.

Come on son, a guy posting anonymously on a small Internet forum site obviously means other clubs will swoop in and steal the player off us.
That's basic.
Whilst I prefer him starting from a wide position, "whenever" is far too much of an over-statement. Off the top of my head, his performances at Bristol Rovers, Port Vale and at home to Ipswich last season say otherwise.
Anyone could take a gamble and say "we are going to sign 3 players" without naming.
Who was the "fishy" one?
Fair point.
The cat looking for fish again. Can the otter be far behind?
I know @davebevan is going to hound me for that. And rightly so.
