Our record of goals from midfield has been woeful over recent years. Gape, Thompson and Scowen usually one or a two a season. The two signing today might sort that out.
A 30-goal striker and a centre half made of granite and we are good to go
He had plenty of game time at Rochdale last season and scored zero goals. I would be very (pleasantly) surprised if he troubled the first team. His debut was a sliding door moment. Great skill, left defenders for dead, cued up a shot, goes out for throw in. He hits the target or scores who knows. As it was the roars of laughter is what greeted his first serious effort in senior football.
I honestly think Mellor could come good. He's a kid who has played a handful of first team games in his career. He will grow in stature, and obviously has something about him to have been with United for so long (playing and scoring goals). Paired with the fact that we signed him permanently and usually do enough homework on it, I would give him a chance.
You CANNOT judge a footballer on a handful of substitute appearances. Dare I say his name in public - Ali Al Hamadi..............
I think GA threw him into the 1st team too soon, should’ve gone straight out on loan . As you say he had great skill , left defenders for dead, but rushed and snatched at the shot. I don’t think Matt Cecil announcing his debut by bigging up his signing from Man Utd helped.
Hopefully a year on , a year older and wiser and the experience of playing in a shit Rochdale side , he can really show us what he can do. I wish him every success and hope he can take the opportunity at Wycombe.
Signing Luke Leahy is a statement of intent. A player in his prime, player of the season with Shrewsbury and excels in central midfield and as a left wing-back.
I hope we’re not going to rest on our laurels now. We’ll need another couple of signings of this calibre. Not least as it seems increasingly unlikely that Chris Forino-Joseph will be playing for us next season.
He seems like yet another nice lad and if he is coachable I have hope. We have a lot of talent in that could go either way zone this season. Could be exciting could be shipped off to beaconsfield.
If he won't sign a deal (he might) then the asking price in January would be small if we aren't competing for anything. If Ainsworth actually wants him now he'll have to stump some significant cash up at least.
One QPR (self-proclaimed) ITK insisting that talks are advanced. It would be a shame to lose Chris, but then we have not been able to get more than half a season out of him to date. We can't be losing development players for no fee.
I know it means nothing, but he was adamant at the do on Saturday that he was going to be with us this season. Wasn't coy about it at all. He reckoned it was just unreliable sources making it all up.
I do think Forino has no interest at the moment, but I also know Mehmeti had no enquiries until the final 3 days of the January window. I hope we’ve got a contingency plan. I would think Bloomfield is nowhere near naive enough to not have contingency plans. He seems to work far too hard to be ill-prepared.
He said as much in his ringing the blues interview. Being across new players and those on the squad likely to have offers. Sounds like his daily commute is a car full.of the staff talking football.

I love the versatility Leahy brings.
Where's Trevor?
Eh? Wing?
What a few days for the club, even the iLuvWycaM4864356 accounts might be a bit happier than they were on Friday.
Looks like we might not need to bring our boots along to JJs testimonial after all.
Surely Tools has granite in him now?
Mellor needs some game time. I think Bolton was too injury prone in his time with us. Good luck to him.
Some generals and a bunch of young lings...perhaps MB likes the youngsters we've got?

Also worth noting that Rochdale were a bit of a crisis club when he was there - hardly realistic to expect him to excel in that environment.
Also worth noting that he played left midfield in a flat midfield 4. Not even a winger.
The experience would have done him no harm.
Couhig bags Leahy

People repeating the same thing over and over again doesn't make Forino anymore likely to go.
The Couhigs aren’t going to let a talented development team graduate just leave for free in 12 months time.
I suspect he leaves in the next few weeks and maybe we are already spending his fee.
Seems a bit cruel that the club are posting so many pre-season pics of him if that's the case, but I'm inclined to agree.
Agreed. If Ainsworth wants him, then he will go eventually.
That said, if he didn't appear in any photos then people would be kicking off. They can't win.

And what a comeback! Two visits in three years and three likes.
Who did you unveil last time?
I cant remember now. alot of stuff is known but cant reveal them all, dont want to jeopardise deals.

Good to hear, hard to draw any conclusions based on contract length when we never seem to renew early or announce when we have done or how long for.

I'm sure after missing out on the Cambridge Centre half who went to Charlton. They will be looking for another one.
No guarantee Forino will even be in the starting eleven comexthe Exeter game.
No guarantee but I’d be very disappointed if he isn’t.
