Messi played his last game for PSG last night and is a free agent. A long shot but it's better than going from The Chuckle Brothers to a discussion about Mike ad Bernie Winters.
It's interesting, the Posh transfer list thing. They are presenting it as just being about their policy of transfer listing any players who are in the last year of their contract, but it's hard not to read it in the context of the company owning the ground going into administration and the owners having apparently fallen out.
In fairness I think that it has been their policy for a number of seasons in order to try to obtain value from players before they leave on a free. This can then be reinvested into other ‘rough diamonds’ from the lower leagues. The process then starts again.
Despite their irrational grudge towards us in recent years, I’ve always had a distant respect for how they seem to have consistently punched above their weight over the years and developed a number of talented youngsters. I’m not sure how much of this has been funded by MacAnthony’s money though
Your last sentence is key, not sure they've done a whole lot of scrambling round or developing but their scouting is obviously solid.
I think they are liable to maybe get in a bit of a mess occasionally when they gamble on promotion and fail or players don't command the fees they'd hope but they have clearly put a lot of money in to recruitment and have a decent history of turning a couple of hundred thousand pounds into a few million.
Lots of QPR fans expecting Lewis Wing to come in, which is not a huge leap of imagination, but also some expecting Forino. Hopefully purely in the speculative category!
So every decent player we have or have had in the past three seasons will soon be signed by QPR then? They will love Gareth even more if he starts filling their pockets with West London gold!
Are Posh really punching above their weight? The size of the club, stadium and town feels like their awkward existence of being nearly too big for League One, but too small for the Championship, is about right.
True! I still think Wing is a half decent shout, but as others (possibly you) have pointed out with Forino in the past, despite his talent it would be a risk for GA to grab him until he has shown he can get through a season unscathed.
Given that QPR laboured to get over the line (from a position of relative safety) I still reckon Gaz, Dobbo and whoever he recruits will have a torrid time if they don't get off to a blinding start. Wing took a while to get going for us. Perhaps no-one will come in for him and he'll re-sign for Bloomy just before the season starts! 😀
Doesn't Forino only have a year left on his contract? If he stays with us for the season then he can go for free (other than some nominal sum ordered by the EFL for being under 24). Surely its better we get something for him now.
I think the impetus for the Forino to QPR rumours came from Dickie leaving for Bristol City and QPR being short a bob or two so needing a bargain replacement. I actually think Forino is potentially better than Dickie was for Oxford (judging like for like division wise - I know Dickie has since been at QPR for a while), but the injuries will hold him back from a transfer.
I don't think this constant hyping up of Forino is that helpful. He's a good player who needs to become more consistent.
I think he definitely improved that side of his game last season and if he continues on that upward trajectory so much the better. But he's not as good as Dickie
Probably just an online QPR echo chamber, so obviously no way of knowing if there is any real ITK behind them. Transfer time is always a hall of funny mirrors.
Just figured I would post rumours in a thread entitled Rumour Mill, to be a little radical...
We are being linked to Northampton full back Ali Koiki. I believe he is left sided. He has rejected a contract at Northampton and is free to leave this summer - apparently we tried to sign him in January?

You think we have only had two decent players in the last three seasons? I did not realize you were such a pessimist! 😉

We’re after AFCW’s Ethan Chislett. So are other top L1 clubs though.

Wing apparently wanted a move back up north. So QPR is a bit sketchy.
If they want Forino at least they'll have yo find a few quid. Unless we've snuck a clause in there...
Bayo recruited as Head of Motivation...and Bloomfield poached as assistant coach just when we get just outside the play-off places.
Also being reported from other sources too

Wing is definitely champs quality, it's just that the noise seemed to be that he and his wife wanted back up north.
But apparently they do live fairly locally, so maybe the lack of upheavel will be the game changer.
Forino needs a season with us playing a full 40 or so games I think. If he can nail that then he's got every chance of a good move.

Reported or repeated?
Have we seen his showreel?

We'll get him on an improved deal at some point, or knowing us he's already on a 2 year deal and they've not told anyone.
He's not starting regularly for a championship side any time soon.
He’s 24 in April so no compensation would be necessary next summer
Get something now and replace him with what? Realistically....what is his current market value with his injury record? Maybe £250k?

Dickie was far too good for League 1.

Agreed about Forino, he can look majestic for 90% of a game, but is prone to errors that you would see at Fernie Fields on a Sunday.
An expeirenced fit vocal central defender is a must, so Forino can continue his development.
Which, to be fair you'd expect from a young player who's not been in the pro game 10 minutes and not that long ago was playing university football
He's doing just fine, and was a great signing. Let's just not put too much pressure on him by hyping him up as the finished article
He's hopefully got another decade at least in the game. He's got plenty of time to fulfill his potential
Where have these rumours been discussed outside of this forum as I can't see anything linking Forino to QPR

source Pete from Football Insider
You put your left leg in
Your left leg out
We’ve got Ali Koiki
And that’s what it’s all about!
If we still had Kaikai they could have been quite a partnership down the left side.
