My version: Americans are cats and Brits are dogs. This is based on nothing more than how a group of them sound in the distance, but it has to mean something.
As an ex (field) hockey player I fully agree it is a tough watch for any audience far less a TV audience - likewise ice hockey, mostly because of the speed it is played at - in field hockey the ball is often travelling at 90mph+ & is as hard if not harder than a cricket ball.
As for rugby, I enjoyed playing at school & uni (for a while) & will still watch the odd game of RU, though I much prefer to watch RL as it has dispensed with much of the tedium of RU by getting rid of scrums & lineouts which waste a shitload of time in a game & as well as aiming to keep the ball alive by eliminating mauls/rucks.

That's definitely the Robert Smith 'clearly not as excited as you' clip isn't it
I have one basic rule when it comes to watching sport.
Don't watch American sports, because they are all shit
The rule with American sports is: the college version is always better.

What a bloke
I loved watching college football when I was holiday in the US, even if I had very little idea of what was actually going on.
Watching the New York Yankees.
There's a phrase that could be misunderstood. Just don't get caught doing it in Times Square.
Definitely not a sport.
Of all the trends that have come and gone on the Gasroom, 'i don't see the value of it, therefore it has no value,' is the most tedious.
