Fancy being livid that Mr. Wycombe wants to go to...Wycombe.
In all seriousness, it is a crappy time of year for anyone to be looking, but Colchester have to ask themselves how Grays Athletic Under 16s will feel when Colchester pinch their manager?
Absolutely, I think in the short term it's a great answer... perhaps even Ainsworth put the call in. In the long term, it's a tricky tricky job to be the man to take over from Gaz.
Edit to say, it's a fantastic way to get over Gaz leaving, and Blooms is tipped to be a fantastic coach and everyone knows him etc. Just is a bit of a risk
Of course, Blooms could be using it as a negotiating ploy. I doubt he went there on that much money given his lack of experience, but now he has proved to be relatively successful and your old club come calling, it may not be a bad time to ask for a bit more cash?
I hope the Couhigs are chasing Mr Wycombe. For me, the important thing now is for the promotion push everyone confidently predicted we would never have this season is not derailed. Blooms is an excellent continuity appointment in terms of knowing the team and our style of play to keep the momentum going for this season at least without too much disruption. I doubt he would change too much for the run-in. Gaz and Dobbo have left us in a great position and to throw that away would be a scandal. There will be plenty of time to become Brazil next season in the Championship! 😉
It is grubby timing for Colchester, old rivals or not, but their more fair minded fans nail it - why would Blooms not want to go back to where he is a legend, a division higher, in a playoff hunt?

.....and for setting my hat on fire at the battle of layer road
i know its not directed at me but I read the stats somewhere earlier won 9, drawn 6 and lost 12.
I'll consult my spreadsheet
If Matt does come back I hope the Couhigs back him financially and let him hang onto our best players and improve further in the summer.
Forget the road and stand improvements and spend the money on the squad!!!!
Thanks. Not bad considering what a basket case club they were when he joined.
That was Chelmsford.
What??! I’ve been hating on the wrong Essex apes for years
This 👍👍
Pretty sure both did it.
I wonder if the added bonus of Blooms being a cult hero, it's handy that he was perhaps cheaper than a proven manager.
Aren't some parts of the ground quite literally crumbling?
But he is the ideal replacement to guarantee continuity. He is a very clever coach and a top man. He will be very successful.

Didn't Col U turn up alongside Chelmsford when we drew them next round looking for revenge?
No, just Chelmsford. Colchester pooed their pants, which is why they hate us.
Lol.

Matt will probably bring his assistant Richard Thomas who he only appointed in October. Thomas is highly rated.
5pm announcement?
The FA roof desperately needs repairing. The last thing you’d want is to leave it and in a few years one side of the ground to be taken out of action.
The road can do one.
You are funny @ReturnToSenda. On the hour every hour.
So will Lee Harrison come back with him? Will we have 2 Goalkeeping coaches or will Lee be the Assistant?

Anyone coming in will be a risk.... at least he would have understanding of us as a club and give us some continuity. His blood runs light dark blue
I always wanted Blooms whenever the day came, and the fact he actually has a little managing experience and success now makes it all the better.
Now...can everyone just do their announcing?

It was already a difficult announcement piece, as there will need to be some fair sized tribute to Gaz and Dobbo.
But a Bloomfield appointment to boot?
This is going to take an all nighters for Team Cecil!
