Southend United
Southend may cease to exist on March 1st, potentially a very sad day indeed.
Thankfully, Derby fans have rallied the "football family" and are pushing hard for Southend to be saved. Oh wait, that didn't happen.
All the best to Southend and their fans at this time. Hopefully someone can come through 11th hour. it is insane how clubs like Bury and Southend can be victimized by having one lousy owner who refuses to let go of the club. That could be us someday, and it is awful how loud the silence is if the club is below that invisible cut off line of big club/little club.
Derby potentially going under? Gary Neville teeth grinding tragedy.
Southend going under? Crickets.

That is sad, and I must confess I know nothing about the backstory. Can anyone provide a bit of an outline on here?
We need @BrianJeeves68 to fill us in.
I'm sure they'll be back in some form as they have a big fanbase, but it's so so bad that football authorities seem unable to prevent this. I hope they new football regulator somehow realigns clubs as assets to their communities and embraces the depth and importance of the pyramid. It is WAY more important that having the more European cup entries!
He's pretty good on this on twitter and I'm guessing local papers out this way.
Neville won't care btw as they don't have a mate of his as manager.
Neville has probably never heard of them.
Different universe.
As far as I know it is the usual story of a current owner (Ron Martin) who appears to care more for the redevelopment value of Roots Hall than the history or future of the club, plays brinksmanship with HMRC over their tax bills with fairly regular winding up notices & court appearances (next one set for 1/3/23), late filing of accounts - currently under threat of being struck off by Companies House, frequent late payment of wages & a desire to move the club to a new build stadium near the airport.
A timely reminder that there are even worse things to lose than your greatest ever manager.
He's dug himself in so deep that he needs the redevelopment to pay but if you can barely pay tax and stay alive I really don't see how you can cope with a project of that size and any setbacks. Very difficult to see this ending well when you have collapsed on the field, alienated suppliers and partners and the fans hate you.
Southend City might try and get investors and apply to jump up the leagues I guess.
Looks like Southend have now paid HMRC everything currently due and has had a working capital injection. Should hopefully keep them going for a few months
Great news!
