Not directly relevant to this thread I know but Newlands Stadium in Capetown SA has railway carriages under one of the stands, (as they built one of the stands over the station), for the prawn sandwich brigade. I was a guest in one once. All the carriages are named after famous rugby grounds. They moved the station to just outside of the stadium, (if I remember correctly) to accommodate the large crowds attending the events.
FGR is 8.2km from Stroud Station by car and isn't featured in the study I saw as they weren't EFL at the time. Yeovil is 4,334 Km from Yeovil Pen Mill Station, Oxford is 4.059Km from Radley Station. Next is Wycombe where it's 3.761Km from High Wycombe Station. Ours is a mere 1.051Km from Derby Station.
The shortest driving route between FGR and Stroud Station is 6.59km or 4.1miles and is quicker than the Google advised route of 8.2km.
The shortest driving route for Yeovil FC, off Lufton Way to Pen Mill is 6.11km or 3.8miles. As the crow flies it is 4.334km.
If you use the driving method from railway station to ground then Radley is 6.6miles/10.62km from the ground at Oxford. Oxford railway station is closer to drive at 4.7miles/7.56km. This makes Oxford United the furthest ground from a train station if you are driving. Wycombe is a paltry 3.1miles/5km to drive.
If you are walking then it is FGR/4.1miles, Oxford/3.5miles, Yeovil/3.2miles.
A now no longer used railway station still exists in Nailsworth as does Station Road where the railway station house still exists.
Forfar Athletic's Station Park, named for its proximity to a train station, is the furthest Scottish league club ground from a train station after Forfar Station was closed in 1967. It is some 14 miles from stations in Arbroath and Dundee.
