The 'shaky' signature at the end really sets up the bounty that follows. A rousing intro from captain Bryan as we embark on another quest for the World Cup
Page 5 salutes the all conquering Champions Liverpool (except the Cups..but more of that later). The first glimpse of tight silky shorts that defined late 80s football
(Note how they did a slightly better job on Oxford than we did this season)
@DevC cant remember if it was Shoot or Match but do you remember the cover with Trevor Senior with Luther Blissett on his shoulders after John Barnes went to Liverpool? Something like Senior being signed for Watford to take some of the weight off Blissett.
Senior a goal machine at Reading, a flop at Watford.
Here’s a question. Would 2022/23 Wycombe Wanderers beat 1989/90 Liverpool? They’re allowed modern kit and they can be briefed on modern refereeing standards. But they have 1989/90 tactics and levels of fitness.
As I recall Senior joined in Bassetts year as manager and really didn’t make the step up at all. By the time I moved abroad in October the atmosphere was toxic and I understand it only got worse.
Senior still involved in the game in what some refer to as the WestCountry but I would see as well on the way to Newcastle…..

Love it! I have a feeling this thread is going to end up touching on Panini, too.
Better believe it Shev
@ReturnToSenda if you had been born ten years earlier...you would have been writing this
Has anyone ever been in a position where they have had to 'declare' something?
Excellent scenes.
Only at airports. Incredibly, when I have come back to the States from the UK on trips, I have had to declare cheese.
Match weekly was a decent publication, actually preferred it to Shoot.
I go back far enough to remember Charles Buchan’s Football Monthly and I still have some copies hidden away somewhere.
Bryan Robson kicks things off with a rallying call ahead of 1990 qualification

you can't post that without 'second division team tales for our league ladders'

Big Colour Pictures!
Someone got bored half way through a crossword it seems
What kind of cheese was it?
Wensleydale and Red Leicester. I always "smuggle" some back because the cheese is so much better over there.
Anyway, I won't milk the stories about dairy daring.

Not sure it worked but a memorable cover.

I’d say we win more often than not.
Loved the league ladders - i used to convert one for isthmian league!
Think Shoot neglected the Scottish game? Think again

Shoot correctly predict Man City's rise
If it was stilton I'd understand @Shev
But Wensleydale?
I'm speechless
Honestly no Peter.

Would that have been around the time they signed Gary Penrice as well?
