  • Five forwards out. One forward in. #Panic

  • Thank you and the same to Wycombe. He looks a real prospect- reminds me a little dare I say it from some of the dribbling etc of Mahrez.

  • We've got twenty acres, they've got forty-three

  • If Mehmeti is apparently one million, I think that we're going to have to find quite a few more diamonds!

  • Honest thoughts on whether we will see any more incoming? I say a hard no. Distanced Couhigs and a frugal Gaz not a good combo for getting the cheque book out.

  • I wonder if the club saw this coming when they farmed out Horgan, Kaikai etc. Neither might be viewed as first team starters but certainly provided options from the bench. There's an awful lot of pressure now on Campbell to hit the ground running unless we can bring in another forward player before 11pm to ease the load.

  • Time for TJ to take his chance. I think he'll become a first team regular.

  • Good luck to Anis, we were blessed to have found him & he put in some fantastic performances for us. If we are all honest, he was always destined for a higher level than we can realistically promise with any consistency. The fact that, in our own terms, we got a reasonable (club record?) pay day from selling him then that is the icing on the cake.

Hopefully Sam Grace will unearth another gem shortly & we can dream all over again.

P.S. 36 pages on this thread & not one that forecast Chem Campbell or Harvey Cartwright as loan signings...

  • My 80/1 bet for Anis to be L1 top scorer is still running. I had better cash out!

  • wish Anis all the luck in the world , amazing player and will smash it at Bristol City , massive thanks to the management team for getting pittance for him , no wonder clubs look st us a soft touch ...Pete/ Rob please don't say we should nor be called Little wycombe because you have proved that is the case .. we have Lost 5 players and you have bought in a reserve GK ans a 6 month loan deal to replace Anis....horrendous window and cost us a play off place ....

The key is how we develop the squad for next season and beyond. If we are losing shedloads of money then the transfer activity this January has been prudent (probably).

It is likely that we have significantly reduced our outgoings in terms of wages with minimal impact on the first team (well starting 11) squad (at least barring any more departures).

Although we are in a fairly good position in the table and (hopefully!) safe from relegation the playoffs are (even before the window) an outside chance at best this season.

The lack of back-up in the squad has probably made it even less likely, but if the players hit a vein of form as we sometimes do not impossible.

What this window and our league position has done (I think) is its allowed us to consolidate and should allow GA the space and time to focus on what is needed to perform against the odds in the next and future seasons.

Anis’s replacement will be key I think to whether we fade away or keep up our challenge but overall (with the previous caveat about no more outgoings) I think for the long term future of the club we’re in a better position than we were 31 days ago.

  • Hey Trevor/Wanderers80/DevinesWanderers80, how do you know it was a pittance?

It has been billed as a club record so surely that means it is more than the £750k we got for Ibe?

I would hazard a guess that we will receive somewhere close to 20% of our playing budget so not really a pittance is it...

  • Unless I’m mistaken the first interview with Anis on City Twitter features a clip of him walking down a path with our recently departed advisor.

  • Oh and of course good luck Anis. You have been a pure delight to watch and thanks for the (many) magnificent* memories.

(*As an aside can anyone recall a ‘greatest hits’ memory collection for any other player of quite his quality in relatively few games)

  • Cheers for coming on @BristolCityInPeace1 - I wish Mehmeti and BCFC all the best. Promotion is out this season I assume, but hopefully next season is massively successful, with Anis tearing it up.

It is weird to know something is coming one way or another, but still feel absolutely gutted as if you didn't see it coming. That's the life of a lower league club, I suppose. I am still very proud that we never block our players from moving on to big opportunities. I expect Mehmeti will always have a massive soft spot for us, and will be back at AP as a welcome guest.

  • Escorting him all the way from Adams Park I imagine.

  • Aaron Pierre has barely featured for Sutton United this season because he’s been injured.

I suspect we’ll see the consequences of Anis Mehmeti’s departure by the end of next month.

  • You assume we weren't caught cold by this deal and it was known at the time we sanctioned Kaikai out at least?

Wish Anis all the best and will never forget his quality in a Wycombe shirt - one of the very best destined for the top.

That doesn't stop this being an absolute sickener. A player who was our X Factor, scoring / assisting around a third of our league goals, leaving in the mid season is a huge blow regardless of the finances involved. I dare say that in comparison to the rest of the Top 7-10 that leaves our chances of anything more than top half significantly weaker.

Hope to be proven wrong (especially with some signings in the next 6 hours) but I can see this being the start of our season fizzling out.

  • And pretty obvious that "Trevor" doesn't fit in with this particular geniuses very obvious naming convention.

  • Normally we get a ‘that’s the business done, go to bed chumps,’ tweet on deadline day. I haven’t seen one yet, so maybe there’s still hope…

  • How can people be angry about a transfer figure they don’t know.

  • If you think that's mad, wait until you hear what they do about injuries they don't know.

  • Well we won't be savvy to the actual selling price.

I assume we could have some sort of idea when end of year accounts get published?
