With 19 games in 13 weeks starting on Feb 4th you would imagine a couple reinforcements will be arriving or surely they wouldn't have let Horgan, Kaikai, Al-Hamadi & Mellor all go.
As those players have barely contributed to the season so far I doubt if there is a panic. 2 big earners out will help the deficit and our club’s future. That’s the best but for me
Yeah, I’m of the school of thought that the “outs” have had an incredibly limited number of minutes between them, and we may feel that the likes of Freeman, Hanlan (starting with Vokes, but playing more on the wing, not being an either/or option up top) and Wheeler can between them cover well enough on the attacking side.
Part of me would love to see a glamour attacking signing (or two) come in, but the type of player who would genuinely improve the squad is unlikely to come cheap (unless we can get exceptionally lucky on the loan front), and certainly there’s no point signing expensive players to sit on the bench, otherwise we’re back to a Horgan scenario.
Not just a young goalkeeper though @davecz - he has played at this level and for England U20.
Just imagine that Max does something as slight as breaking a finger or spraining a wrist (very common injuries for a GK). Going into a playoff campaign with any of our current reserves would leave us very weak in that position. Then we would all be saying "why didn't we sign a backup?" Wouldn't have been possible to bring anyone in after the transfer window slams shut as I don't think we are eligible for an emergency loan - maybe I'm wrong?
GA and team have identified that and I think it's a terrific signing. Very sensible.
Ok, next question - can we stipulate that our own loan players don't play against us? I know it doesn't really apply to reality, but in dreamland could Kaikai line up for MK Dons against us in a playoff final at Wembley?
It would be good to see another quality attacker come in for sure.
It seems like the Charlie Fox rumour is the only one actively doing the rounds right now though - of course rumours mean zilch until they sign on the dotted line. But long-term LB succession planning is definitely a good move.
In an interview late last week on Wanderers TV, the club secretary mentioned “possibly one more player coming in on loan” ( this was after the Cartwright signing), but not the position they were looking at.
we used to do business early on however now we leave things to the last minute and sure we have lost out on many targets as we are probably playing hardball ...GA has done an incredible job ...just feel Rob has lost interest...loan signings are a stop gap and show little ambition...especially in positions we don't need to strengthen, would not surprise me if Rob looklmg to sell Max ..
I get the need for a left back, but I wouldn't say it's an urgent requirement. There are a lot of teams in this league that would be happy to have Obita and JJ.
I guess it does mean we could use Obita more as a winger, which solves the backup down the left side.
Whilst I don't recall Obita ever letting us down, I also don't know what he excels at. Reliable I guess.
Obita has had a really poor season and JJ can't play LWB, so we are a bit limited if playing 3atb - but I agree it's not urgent. I don't think we've had a left-footed attacker since Kashket, off the top of my head.

Does anyone know if loan players can be recalled outside of the transfer window?
I believe not, at EFL level, the loan period is the loan period no recalls.

Kaikai is a permanent deal, I think?
Kaikai isn't a loan deal, his contract was terminated by mutual consent. I admire your thinking that MK might make the play-offs, 😂.
Oh, I mis-understood when I read "deal until the end of the season". My post was in jest though, which is why I included the "dreamland" caveat
Wouldn't it be 'Nightmareland' anyway, if MK made the playoffs?
Shayden Morris? Hasn’t featured for Aberdeen. I really like the look of him. Haven’t stopped banging on about him tbf
What does everyone think we NEED going into the playoff push (assuming all players stay)?
I doubt anything we do will be rash - it will be a low risk move (loan or free transfer).
I think we need another winger or striker.
Both of those and a L(W)B ideally, although I'd say another winger is the lowest priority

I guess as usual all we can do is wait and see.
I think the Fox talk is about a pre-contract agreement for the summer

Thought this was a bizarre take.
Then saw the username!

Yeah signing Steven Taylor, Eze, Mawson etc on loan showed a massive lack of ambition on our part.
Massive debt is definitely the way forward for our club.
Wolves winger Chem Campbell is set to join on loan.
Hmm, let’s see…

That’s a fairly reliable source. I’d imagine this goes through
One of Country's rising stars. Could be the 'Wycombe lineman' !!
Surprised he's not going to County
Signed a new 4-year deal with Wolves in October - they certainly seem to rate him.
Players who've played for both WWFCs? Roger Johnson, Kortney Hause...?
I really hope Chem is short for Chemical
No chance Mehmeti is going the other way is there?
