Their manager's comments along the lines of 'he's come from Manchester United so he's bound to be good'. We thought the same and its quite a cliche for what we think about the elite academy system.
I’m expecting the breaking news tweet in the next few hours after the clear-out. Been a few seasons since I had ‘Hylton anxiety’ - the unjustified but persistent fear of us signing a player so morally corrupt that the season ticket was in danger of being cancelled. So bring on the game changing forward. Or holding mid. Or right back. In Gaz we trust.
Just thinking loaning Mellor out doesn't free up any squad space either - he was already under the limit. In any case, I hope he's up for a relegation scrap!
After reading some of the comments about signing the young keeper from Hull, I was just thinking how difficult it is to be a manager. If we hadn’t signed him and Max got injured the same people would probably be asking why we didn’t bring in adequate cover. Damned if you do etc…
Exactly. Harrison was quite clear earlier in the season that it was less than ideal having to throw Tyla in at the deep end. Gaz clearly feels that he’s not ready for L1 football and due to us not being able to utilise the emergency loan system (should we need to), has signed a keeper to compete with Max. We need at least two keepers who are capable of playing L1 football if we are serious about the play-offs.
I haven't seen anybody criticise the club for bringing in goalkeeping cover, especially if salary cost is low or better still covered by Hull. For Wycombe Wanderers it feels a good deal (without trying to h=judge whether this lad is better than Tyla for instance - that's Gareth's job.
The point I and others made is that it seems a very odd deal for both Hull City and the lad himself. What is the point for either Hull or the lad for the lad to come here and just sit on our bench? That is especially true in view of the Hull managers comments that he "just needs games".
Hull will surely have wanted to understand the likelihood of hi playing before agreeing the loan which makes it hard to understand why they are agreeing the deal unless they have been told that Max is being sold or is long term injured. Those two scenarios are more concerning.
I didn't particularly read any criticisms of him being signed. I think fans were a bit triggered by Hull saying they had sent him to us for game time, which drew the inference that Max was not going to be playing. That being the case is he injured or is he leaving? So comments were more puzzled then critical to be fair.
Closer to home though. Dare say a lot of us probably don't give much thought to young players moving 100s of miles away and how it must feel struggling to make an impact at a club.
I’m surprised Leeds haven’t sent Amari Miller out on loan. I remember saying I would love for him to have joined us on a season long loan in the summer - he’s an exciting winger who would offer us something different.

Good luck to the lad, it may exactly what he needs.
Let's be honest, Mellor wasn't gonna get anywhere near the team, so his departure doesn't really make any difference.
Please add some depth at centre-forward...

Great move for D’Mani, hopefully he’ll play a key role in steering Rochdale away from the bottom two.
Cameron Jerome contract cancelled at Luton....possibility for us ?
Sounds like Bolton are after him, so probably not

I actually thought Fred was incredible for us at LWB towards the end of the Championship season
Is Danny Hylton still a thing?

Been pretty prolific for Northampton!
I’m glad you said that, I was worried if imagined it. But he’s not coming back.

Think you may have missed the point, Alan

He is, I’m sure, still a thing.
How many places do we have to bring in new players? Finances aside of course.
I think the negative comments re signing Cartwright have been primarily on Facebook.
Oh wait, Mellor did count towards the limit - so I make it three spots left for 21 and older
Thanks for pointing this out and my mistake for not making it clearer that I wasn’t referring to the comments on the gasroom.
I think this is accurate (can't find DOBs for Makoli or Ward, but they're both 19 max)

Ah well, we're still the superior Wanderers
Quite the drop when you word it like that.

4 attacking players moved on though. A few days left of the window.
Do we have enough in the building if we don't bring anyone else in?
Vokes, Mehmeti, Wheeler and McCleary probably the first choice 4 right now. Hanlan a strong option, but then we're potential like De Barr.
Freeman can play wide, but doesn't generally these days, or we could play 3 in midfield as other options.
But it's hard to think of a time we've dramatically trimmed the numbers as quickly as this without any inbounds.
Sinclair Armstrong in on loan? Highly rated young forward at QPR who are supposedly looking to get him some game time.
I want him because of his name alone
