I reckon a well written article worth a read:

Excellent stuff, agree with every word of that. Sad to not see a Wycombe badge on The Big Step website.
Only 3/92 on there so far
We should hang heads in shame that Luton are showing more leadership on this. Luton.
Luton have been really strong on this for quite a long time now and it's massively to their credit
We're still bombarded with neon skybet adverts and Jeff fucking Stelling on the scoreboard during the game
It's shameful really
There's only one David Wheeler,
One David Wheeler,
He's a superstar,
Wants to have PR,
Walking in a Wheeler Wonderland
There needs to be a national conversation. I think some politicians are just too scared to do anything that curtails profits however made.
Good on you, David!
Wheels is one of the players I would most like to just be able to have a sit down chat with. Consummate professional both on and off the field, with an interesting mind to boot.
Imagine working for one of the betting companies.
"Hi darling, I'm home!"
"Hello sweetheart, how was your day?"
"I helped another person commit suicide today leaving their kids without a father!"
I did some stuff with him for Mind (for RTB) a couple of seasons back and can confirm he is very good value for a sit-down chat
Excellent article. I occasionally bet - once or twice a year. It’s one of those things that sits uncomfortably with me when I’m reminded of the damage it does. And I drink a pint or two and that does massive damage as well.
I’m not sure enough is done on alcohol and tobacco and clearly enough isn’t done on limiting the damage gambling does.
Strong comments.
Same belief about booze and cig companies presumably?
When was the last time you saw booze and fags being marketed to kids?
One for Andrew Bridgen MP perhaps
The sums involved are extraordinary and the profits are the just the latest gold rush. And it is normalised in every walk of our lives now. Want to save a donkey? 'join the weekly donkey lottery'. Want to make friends? 'play online bingo, its not gambling its a social thing'. Want to watch any sport? 'then here are the odds'. It is EVERYWHERE. We are sleep walking into a generation being poisoned by gambling.
Good point. Hadn't thought of it from that angle.
Assumed that in the near future gambling ads will go the same way certainly as booze ads - not on football shirts. Maybe post watershed too, like most booze ads are?
Think cigs ads have pretty much disappeared these days?
Careful, he sues if you disagree with him.
Whilst I totally understand your comment, it is also true that alcopops and vaping are creeping into use by young pre-teens. Even if they aren't openly marketed that way, they will certainly be appealing "flavours" to the younger taste.
Alcopops? I hope the Gasroom manages to cope OK with the Millennium Bug.
I've lived in fear of being happy slapped for the best part of 15 years.
Bloody hell, I remember that
It's those transit van crews you need to watch out for.
And spontaneous human combustion.
Remember when they said eating doner kebabs was linked to a degenerative brain disease?
That was a concern
I think they had cause and effect reversed there @eric_plant
Anyone here ever got stuck in quicksand?
No, but I was permanently left with a funny face when the wind changed direction
Anyone had their arm broken by a swan?
Alan?
This... shouldn't be legal. https://twitter.com/the_bigstep/status/1619661184755720192
