Sam Lavelle and his agent pissed us about allegedly. I certainly think we need a mobile centre half, but wondèr if those bridges are intact, smouldering or completely burnt.
I remember us all suggesting that Ikpeazu would rip up League One. Now we don't want him. Vokes doesn't look up to much and if Mehmeti goes, not sure where our goal threat comes from.
Forino sometimes seems a bit too mobile but he’s still learning, of course, and will become better at judging when to make those those exciting forward surges without having to chase back quite as often to rescue the situation after being dispossessed or having misplaced a pass, often giving away free kicks in dangerous areas and/or getting a yellow card. Whether improved judgement and wisdom borne of advice and experience would reduce his vulnerability to injury, who knows.
The Uche debate is interesting. My heart would love to see him back playing like he did v ‘Boro. My head says he would be one of the top earners, he has not ripped up trees since he left us, eggs in one budget basket, similar to Vokes in role.
Everything I think about with our transfer strategy is jaded with that 3million deficit I’m afraid.
Does anyone think Uche would come back here ? As soon as he had a higher offer he left, and there was talk about him coming back before he went to Turkey, but he choose Turkey. He's probably on very good money out there, and as someone on twitter pointed out, he hasn't played that many games out there because the club actually hasn't. I'd happily have him back, although I think if we don't get promoted we can't afford his wages. But, I'm not sure we'd be his first choice to come back to.
We don't live in a world where loyalty overrides wages unfortunately. If I get offered more money, I'm off. I don't blame anyone for making that decision.
An undisclosed fee, rumoured to be 250k from a team fighting relegation from the championship with some "we don't stand in our player's way - that's our MO" type press release....well, that'd be a day or 2 to stay off the gasroom and fb groups for sure!
Short term is different to long term, we tend to do better after the window is closed for frees, and loans are generally easier if it benefits the owner to have a small portion of wages subsidised and someone unwanted out of the way.
Uche or anyone, and even with a budget that may beyond our means long term, we won't have totally gone soft. if we are honest it's wether the player in question is either unknown, under the radar or unwanted that makes them great value signings.
If Mehmeti gets a decent fee it may be that it clears one years worth of expected losses moving us down the line a bit, the fee will dictate that.
That’s a lengthy eulogy from the Burnham manager. One Ethan out at Orient (Ethan Coleman on loan to Bromley) as another one comes in. The latter looks a little on the Light side.
There is a local football academy who place a lot of players at Oxford. I know one of the founding coaches there and have done since we were kids playing football together. They've also managed to place a number of kids at QPR amongst others.
He has always had a dislike for WWFC, I'm not sure exactly why, since we were teenagers. This doesn't seem to have abated! Anyway, he is an excellent coach and is always developing a number of players but he has a strong link up with Oxford.
It's a shame really as they are really harnessing lots of local talent which is being sent up the M40 when if WWFC could link up with them it could always end up with us.
I suppose it doesn't help that we don't really have an "academy" as such for these players to go to.
Ah, excellent news re. Goodrham and Light, it’s been a while since we had a Fitz Hall-type scenario and a “what the hell are our scouts doing” type outcry. Gasroom tradition must be observed, them’s the rules.
Scouting at our level is no longer about reporting on some kid playing well down on the Rye or an accountant having a decent season at Maidenhead.
Exhibit A: Christie Ward brought in from from Brockenhurst who play in step 5. He has already made his first team debut, a signal that management believe in his potential. And a signal that our scouting network is both broad and deep.
As Gaz often says, “we’ve been doing it for a while, we know what we are doing”. Let’s let the experts keep turning up diamonds in the rough.

We’ve been linked with a loan move for Queens Park Rangers striker Sinclair Armstrong.
Charlton Athletic centre-back Sam Lavelle looks like he might be available.
I hope we are looking at Crawley Town left wing-back Nicholas Tsaroulla.

Yes, I suspect you’re right.

Sounds like someone doesn't want Uche back

Just being facetious - I could go either way on him. I feel like it would be a very unpredictable move, but it would surprise me if he tore it up.

A classic Gasroom thread. Like the only prospects out there have already played for us.
Oh wait, Josh, Alfie, etc etc…
Uche “there’s no place like home, there’s no place like home”
Clearly when a player has done well for us and gone onto better things, the idea of getting them back can be promising.
It's not like someone is suggesting getting back players who slipped into non league years on.
Mehmeti watch: 23 days.

Cue offer from Luton 🤢

Points don’t make prizes, dad, and teams don’t offer fees. Clubs do.

I wonder if we had a look at this fella ?
Tafazolli surely? Had a blinder at Peterborough the other day
We do have a bit of history of losing out on local talent.
Another one has just come on for PNL.
Wycombe boy Tyler Goodrhan.

Out of interest, are you Christie Ward's dad?
The ‘James Hewitt’ of the Gasroom’ 😉.
This had me in stitches
Macauley Bonne is the one we should be going hard for.

Surely no chance? Do we even have any playing budget left...?
