@ChasHarps Looked at the picture, the legendary tache as good as confirmed it. Followed that up with a quick visit to Phil Ball's archive site. Guessed it was the first ever goal in the Trophy, the site confirmed it.
There was John Kerr the American, and in our first season in the FL we played another Kerr (possibly from Reading) who I’m sure scored in a cup / trophy that year. Hence why I thought it may have been our first goal in a competition and maybe then gone and played with John Kerr, if they were even related of course!
James Kettleborough, son of John, nephew of Howard, is the new captain of Staffs CCC this season. Both John and Howard were keen cricketers, John also played for Beds CCC.

Final clue
This striker scored our first ever goal in this competition.
Dylan Kerr?
Not correct, who ever Dylan Kerr is ?
Sounds like a combination of Dylan Evans and Andy Kerr.
Glynn Kerr would have been a hell of a centre back.
The player in the question is back row 2nd left as facing .
Howard Kettleborough?
Correct Mr Newbs, Howard scored our first goal in the Trophy at Barnet, 3 seasons after it commenced.
His brother John was also in the Hitchin side, in which HK averaged over a goal every other game.

Dylan Kerr played for Reading in the 90s, BTW.
