I think what @Right_in_the_Middle is alluding to (and I agree) is the fact that quite a lot of us were very keen, a couple of years ago, to see some more cultured midfield play. Even before Nick Freeman sustained the injury that put him out for the rest of last season, we were seeing just that for a handful of games as he began to make a name for himself as a right sided wingback.
Curtis Thompson is essentially a no-nonsense central midfield grafter and chaser although, to be fair, he was (and hopefully still will be) extremely good in that role and, before his injury, was adding some attacking flair. No gentle reminders about what we’ve been missing and would like to see re-instated will be necessary as far as Curtis Thompson is concerned.
That was why I felt uncomfortable about your suggestion, @Otter87 but I couldn’t immediately think why and I’ve had to mull it over in the meantime in order to rationalise why I felt that way.
As the Irish guy in wellies used to say “there’s more” !
I started it shortly after listening to the Radio 4 “antidote to quiz shows”, “I’m sorry I haven’t clue”. The programme (highly recommended, by the way) includes a loony spoof quiz in which the four participants (all well known comedians/comedy writers) purport to find links between the names of underground stations. They call out the names in turn, feigning careful consideration, until one of them, for no apparent reason, calls out “Mornington Crescent” and the ‘game’ ends.
Surely the Nick Freeman thing started when someone asked who was doing co-comms on a matchday thread, and about half a dozen posters responded, 'Nick Freeman.'

Think I’ve become an instant fan. Now that is beautiful.
The four countries with lyric-less national anthems, btw, are Spain, Kosovo, Bosnia-Herzegovina and San Marino. Proper pub quiz knowledge there.
Cardiff?
Newport
Wrexham
Just popped in a Welsh place name without knowing what the question is.
Have I won anything?
A pat on the head with a sarcastic "Who's a good @micra? " Will that do?
Nick Freeman
Nice one @Otter87 !
@FmG Funnily enough, that was my own first thought but, now that he’s being eased in, it doesn’t seem quite as relevant.
With this thought in mind, is it time to change to:
Curtis Thompson!
No. You've missed the entire point

Thank you for explaining. I had no idea why people kept writing "Nick Freeman" but this clears it up a little.

Hope that helps!
