He has a Martin Taylor look about him. Built like the proverbial brick sh*thouse. I’d love to know how we became aware of him, kind of how these things work. He will boss that 6 yard area that’s for sure!
The most amazing thing about this last month or so is learning how many gasroomers only buy a season ticket based on what the chairman says. Glad he’s not a behind the scenes type or we’d be playing in an empty stadium every week.
@Blue_since_1990 To be honest, I felt it was probably the right time for Stockdale to move on. It feels like we’re still dealing with the consequences following his howler at Wembley. Nathan Bishop would have been an excellent replacement but sadly it seems with been let down by Manchester United and shown up our recruitment strategy for the shambles it is. There are so many good goalkeepers out there and yet is seems, from the outside at least, that we’ve panicked with this signing. I hope lessons will be learned from this rather embarrassing debacle.
As for Max Stryjek, I leave you to make your own judgement over the next few matches.
"shown up our recruitment strategy for the shambles it is"
Sure, it seems like we hung onto the Bishop deal too long - and it was a pretty embarrassing situation to be in - but how can you call our whole recruitment strategy shambolic? There have been a handful of players over the last five years who've been duds, and most of them have been loanee.
David Wheeler played up top as a striker in midweek whilst Joe Jacobson played as a centre back. Jack Grimmer has also played as a centre back this season. The signing of Alfie Mawson was too late, whilst we probably still need to sign another centre back. We also haven’t replaced Adebayo Akinfenwa in his role as a back-up for Sam Vokes (he is irreplaceable in his other roles).
We haven’t recovered from the Wembley defeat and we are losing momentum with every game and every day that passes without replacing the quality of players we’ve lost. The season started nearly three weeks ago.
Well I for one think its a positive signing. He looks like a unit. Big and strong, yet very agile. I can see him commanding his area well and taking no shit from anyone. From his highlight reel at least.... seems to be a superb shot stopper. He looks to be a good signing. Welcome to the wanderers max!

Nathan Bishop will forever remain in the "set to sign" vortex, alas.
Welcome, Max!!!
Don’t know much about him but on the face of it looks a good signing from a player with a fair number of first-team games under his belt welcome
Welcome Max…having trawled YouTube he really does look like an excellent signing!!!
Surely a fair chance he is at least a similar level of talent to Nathan Bishop, based on his experience.
Welcome Max and I am sure you will become a Wycombe legend.
All the very best.
Still think Bishop will get Player of the Season
Looks like a bloke you wouldn’t want to mess with in Revs or in the six yard box! Don’t think anyone will be bullying him.

Have we really just replaced a goalkeeper of David Stockdale’s standing with Max Stryjek?
Deary me. We really aren’t serious about challenging for promotion this season are we?
I wonder if some people will start to feel they were sold season tickets on false pretences.
How do you know how good Max is @glasshalfempty? He looks pretty good to me looking at the online footage.
Stocko was a good keeper but he did have a mistake in him so don’t go making him into a god of goalies.

This may just be conspiracy theory, but it could be that the management team keep an eye on a few players and have a plan.
Controversial I know. 🙂
What a thoroughly miserable post.
Welcome to the club Max and best wishes for the season. Looking forward to seeing you in the quarters, so to speak!
After all these years, and so much evidence, I will forever be amazed that some Wycombe fans dont immediately trust Ainsworth's signings.
Even Sunderland fans rate him.
After all these years, and so much evidence, I will forever be amazed that some fans believe managers are infallible when signing players.
Gareth Ainsworth once signed Jason Banton and even Alex Ferguson signed Massimo Taibi.
Anyone have any idea how you pronounce his surname?

I think it's either STRI-YEK or STREE-YEK

I was tempted to say ‘Max’ but I wouldn’t be so mischievous. I believe it is Stray-ek.
I'm told it's STRE-YEK
Cheer up old chap, only another 42 league games to go.

I think it’s Strih-yek, and Strijek would be stree-yek
You once accepted a job offer from Steve Hayes
Life is bleak in your world isn't it, deary me.

MON once signed Trevor Aylott!
