Man of the Match - LC: Northampton (A)
Posting this early as I have a meeting and have no way of watching anyway!
As with last season, this is standalone and will not count towards the enthralling season-long stats which won so many awards for edge of the seat excitement last term.

I’m not there but I’m convinced (as Scott McGleish is) that Nick Freeman is a clear winner. Honourable mentions for Pattenden, Dickinson and Horgan.
Tyler
Freeman was pure class throughout. A joy to watch.
I’m keeping mum!!
Isn't that a deodorant!
Ball type or arsehole?
Whoops. Aerosol.
I think the answer is neither - for armpit.
Glad to hear Freeman did so well. Get that man a league start!!!
Surely has to start on Saturday.
Pattinson perhaps (or a bridge too far)?
Whoops! Pattenden.
I think I’d still have him on the bench to be honest. Even though I do think he should ultimately be a regular starter and thought he was fabulous tonight.
But he’s had a really serious injury and played 90 mins tonight. I’d still keep him a little bit wrapped up in cotton wool for now. Maybe a couple of cameos in the next couple of league matches and then another 90 mins in the second round in a fortnight.
Gotta feel a bit for Mellor, scored a goal but got no votes. Thought he did well though.
Tyla and Pattenden were the runners us for me. Tyla got a proper test this evening after our centrebacks had been subbed off, Pattenden played right-back which I don’t believe is his preferred position, but did a very good job there even winning headers against much taller players. Very good showing from both of them.
Just saw the highlights from the comments I thought Mellor just had a tap in but he still had work to do. Nicely taken. Thank God it was a hero who gave away the pen rather than a 'non-league standard' newbie to be piled on.
The link up play between De Barr and Mellor was beautiful. Mellor's movement off De Barr and De Barr finding him with the backheel reminiscent of '99 vintage Yorke and Cole
I did not see (except for the hoghlights ) but in true trump style found a vote for Mellor.
It was a reckless challenge from Joe, not the kind of thing you associate with him and a player of his experience.
In fairness, I think he lost his footing as he ran to close the player down and he ended up completely out of control.
Think you just proved the point, he's got a way with a few recently.
Joe put in two awful challenges in the semi-finals against Franchise, one in each leg. The one at their place was particularly nasty and he was lucky not to see red.
But Joe didn't run out too quickly once when a striker was clean through. Totally different level of mistake.
JJ did well to get across there and close the player down after a rare mistake from Jasper Pattenden
