I was drinking in a Marlow bistro today and overheard some nefarious characters claiming Lionel Ritchie had once performed at Adams Park. These kind of lies are extremely upsetting to me.
Curiously, it was Watchdog with Matt Allwright as the anchor. About 15 years ago. Richie sang in the Woodland Lounge but whether he was seen live during the TV programme, I’m not sure. The old boys on my table had never heard of him.
Very good @perfidious_albion. Your literary career seems to have gone into a bit of a decline though since your contribution to the admirable Close Quarters.
And if you’re referring to the American singer, his surname is spelt Richie, as I was embarrassed to discover today after years of spelling it Ritchie.
But outside all is changing. The heat and humidity are confined to indoors. I’ve just opened front and back doors and a beautiful cool (almost chilly) breeze is blowing. The temperature is 20 Celsius (68 in the old money). What a relief. Back under the duvet tonight. Perhaps.

@trevor is @Wanderers82's alter ego a la Grant Shapps
Wasn’t it live on an early evening tv show or something??
Lionel played his new release of the day live on the equivalent of the six o clock show. I was in the box next to him as he sang.
His voice was awesome. I was before ko on a Tuesday night.

Ahhh the old Woodlands Lounge crew

”never mind trying to make money for the club to invest in players, what about my half time tea and buscuits”

isn’t it hot.
Fun fact: Messi's dad named him after Lionel Ritchie . So his first name should be pronounced Lionel and not , Lionel, as many people do.
Do you mean Lee O’Nell @Kim_il_Swan ?

Hello.
Wonder what Lionel thinks of the sleeves on the new shirts?
He doesn't like short sleeves. He thought they were All Right Long.
That's a Toffs shirt he's holding isn't it?
I had planned to sign page 85 at a pre season home game for anyone bringing their copy along but that has had to be put on hold!
One of the directors?
